THE METRO YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (MYFA) HAS BEEN IN CONTINUOUS OPERATION SINCE 1971. MYFA'S GOAL IS TO TEACH LIFE SKILLS THROUGH INSTRUCTION IN THE BASICS OF FOOTBALL AND YET LET THE KIDS HAVE FUN. EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT WITH THEIR CHILDREN THROUGH THEIR VOLUNTEER EFFORTS IN VARIED ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE OVERALL FOOTBALL PROGRAM. DURING THE YEAR METRO YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION SERVED APPROXIMATELY 1,100 KIDS. MORE IMPORTANT THAN JUST ANNUAL GROWTH, OUR SUCCESS IS PERHAPS BEST MEASURED BY THE "GOOD NEWS ABOUT KIDS" STORIES WE GENERATE FOR THE LOCAL PRESS AND BY INCREASING NUMBERS OF FORMER PLAYERS RETURNING TO THE METRO YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION PROGRAM AS PARENTS, COACHES, AND SPORTS OFFICIALS.
