FACING AN INCREASED DEMAND DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE CENTER IS ONE OF THE FEW COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS OFFERING MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING ON A SLIDING SCALE (AS LOW AS $5 PER SESSION) TO APPROXIMATELY 1,700 LOW-INCOME, UNINSURED NORTHERN VA, DC; AND MD RESIDENTS EACH YEAR. FY2021, THE CENTER PROVIDED 40,125 DIRECT SERVICE HOURS TO 4,217 COMMUNITY MEMBERS. WE PROVIDED: MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING TO 1,666 INDIVIDUALS (62% RECEIVED REDUCED FEES/FREE SERVICES); CRISIS INTERVENTION, MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, ADVOCACY, AND SUPPORT TO 797 DOMESTIC VIOLENCEVICTIMS; FINANCIAL, CAREER, AND MEDIATION SERVICES TO 107 PEOPLE; REFERRALS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO 7,887 INDIVIDUALS.
