THE MISSION OF THE WOMEN'S CENTER IS TO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF ALL MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH COUNSELING, EDUCATION, AND SUPPORT - REGARDLESS OF ABILITY TO PAY.

FACING AN INCREASE DEMAND DUE TO THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS, THE CENTER IS ONE OF THE FEW COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS OFFERING MENTAL HEALTH AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICES, AND CRITICAL WRAP AROUND EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS ON A SLIDING SCALE (AS LOW AS $5 PER SESSION) TO LOW-INCOME, UNINSURED NORTHERN VA, DC, AND MD RESIDENTS EACH YEAR.IN FY 2023, THE CENTER PROVIDED 33,668 HOURS OF DIRECT SERVICE TO 3,576 INDIVIDUAL COMMUNITY MEMBERS. SPECIFICALLY, THE CENTER PROVIDED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING TO 1,459 COMMUNITY MEMBERS (66%) RECEIVED REDUCED FEES/FREE SERVICES); GROUP THERAPY TO 70 COMMUNITY MEMBERS; CRISIS INTERVENTION, MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, ADVOCACY, AND SUPPORT TO 487 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS; FINANCIAL, CAREER, AND MEDIATION SERVICES TO 395 INDIVIDUALS; AND REFERRALS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO 7,887 INDIVIDUALS.
