DURING THE YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION RAISED APPROXIMATELY $8,300,000 AND MADE GRANTS OF APPROXIMATELY $2,300,000 TO WLRN-TV AND WLRN-FM RADIO STATIONS, BOTH OF WHICH ARE OWNED BY THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD. IN ADDITION TO THE GRANTS, THE ORGANIZATION PAID APPROXIMATELY $2,800,000 IN EXPENSES TO SOUTH FLORIDA PUBLIC MEDIA COMPANY IN ORDER TO SUPPORT WLRN NEWS ACTIVITIES. THESE AMOUNTS WERE USED BY THE STATIONS EXCLUSIVELY FOR CARRYING OUT THEIR EXEMPT PURPOSE.
