FORUMTHE ACVIM FORUM IS THE VETERINARY PROFESSION'S PREMIER INTERNAL MEDICINE CONTINUING EDUCATION EVENT. VETERINARIANS AND TECHNICIANS FROM MORE THAN 45 COUNTRIES ATTEND TO PARTICIPATE IN INTERACTIVE SESSIONS, LISTEN TO LEADING EDGE SPEAKERS, AND LEARN ABOUT THE LATEST RESEARCH ABSTRACTS. THE FORUM PRESENTS LECTURES DELIVERED BY RESPECTED SPECIALISTS COVERING THE MOST RELEVANT TOPICS IN VETERINARY MEDICINE AND PROVIDES ACCESS TO THE MOST RECENT AND YET TO BE PUBLISHED RESEARCH. ATTENDEES NETWORK WITH THE BEST AND BRIGHTEST IN THE VETERINARY INDUSTRY. ACVIM HAD 3,148 ATTENDEES AT THE 2021 VIRTUAL FORUM, WITH 253 SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS, 683 RESEARCH ABSTRACTS (BOTH ORAL AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS).
BOARD CERTIFICATIONTHE ACVIM SEEKS TO ENHANCE ANIMAL AND HUMAN HEALTH BY ADVANCING VETERINARY INTERNAL MEDICINE THROUGH BOARD CERTIFICATION. OUR SPECIALISTS UNDERGO CONSIDERABLE POSTGRADUATE TRAINING BEYOND THE SIX TO EIGHT YEARS OF COLLEGE EDUCATION NORMALLY REQUIRED TO EARN A VETERINARY DEGREE. THIS POSTGRADUATE TRAINING INCLUDES AN INTERNSHIP, RESIDENCY AND DOCUMENTED CLINICAL EXPERIENCE THAT LAYS THE GROUND WORK FOR A CANDIDATE TO TAKE A CERTIFICATION EXAM LEADING TO DIPLOMATE STATUS. ACVIM IS RECOGNIZED AS THE SPECIALTY COLLEGE RESPONSIBLE FOR ESTABLISHING TRAINING REQUIREMENTS, EVALUATING AND ACCREDITING TRAINING PROGRAMS AND EXAMINING AND CERTIFYING VETERINARIANS IN THE SPECIALTIES SEE SCHEDULE O FOR CONTINUATIONOF CARDIOLOGY, ONCOLOGY, NEUROLOGY, NUTRITION, LARGE AND SMALL ANIMAL INTERNAL MEDICINE.
