THE CARROLL COUNTY WABASH & ERIE CANAL'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE OUR VISITORS WITH INFORMATION ABOUT THE WABASH AND ERIE CANAL AND OFFER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL AGES ABOUT THE CANAL ERA IN INDIANA AND ITS IMPORTANCE TO INDIANA HISTORY.

THE ASSOCIATION OFFERS NARRATED RIDES ON A REPLICA CANAL BOAT PLUS PERIOD REPLICA BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES OFFERING MORE INTERPRETIVE EXPERIENCES FOR PARK VISITORS. FACILITIES INCLUDE A ONE ROOM SCHOOL HOUSE AND RESTORED CANAL ERA HOME, AMONG OTHERS. AREA SCHOOLS FREQUENTLY TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE THEIR STUDENTS TOUR THE FACILITIES TO HELP REINFORCE WHAT IS TAUGHT ABOUT THE CANAL ERA IN INDIANA HISTORY.
THE INTERPRETIVE CENTER OFFERS A MUSEUM FOR USE BY SCHOOL TOUR GROUPS AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE. THE MUSEUM PRESENTS CANAL HISTORY IN AN INTERACTIVE FORMAT TO BEST ENABLE GUESTS TO RETAIN INFORMATION PRESENTED REGARDING THE HISTORY OF THE CANAL. THE CENTER IS ALSO USED FOR MANY FAMILY OUTINGS AND GROUP MEETINGS FOR SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS WHICH HEIGHTENS COMMUNITY AWARENESS OF WHAT IS OFFERED.
PROGRAMS OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR INCLUDE "CANAL DAYS- AND "OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS" WHICH OFFER THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENJOY "OLD TIME" ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING HOMEMADE FOOD, PERIOD CRAFTSMAN AND ART. THESE EVENTS GENERATE SIGNIFICANT INTEREST FROM POTENTIAL DONORS.
