MIRABEAU B. LAMAR MASONIC SCHOLARSHIPMIRABEAU B. LAMAR WAS A FREEMASON AND THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS, UNDER SAM HOUSTON. HE THEN BECAME THE SECOND PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS, AND DURING HIS TERM AS PRESIDENT, TOOK ON SEVERAL CHALLENGES BUT IS MOST REMEMBERED FOR HIS DEDICATION TO ESTABLISHING AN EDUCATION SYSTEM FOR TEXAS TO ENSURE THE REPUBLIC HAD A STRONG FOUNDATION FOR LEADERSHIP THROUGH THE EDUCATION OF ITS CHILDREN.CONTINUING THIS TRADITION OF MASONIC PARTNERSHIP WITH PUBLIC EDUCATION, THE MEMBERS OF EAST FORK AND VICKERY MASONIC LODGES HAVE GENEROUSLY ESTABLISHED THIS SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT TO ASSIST CHILDREN OF THE WYLIE COMMUNITY IN THEIR PURSUITS OF CONTINUING EDUCATION.


PAT MARTIN MEMORIAL/EAST FORK MASONIC LODGETHIS SCHOLARSHIP IS MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH GENEROUS DONATIONS TO EAST FORK MASONIC LODGE #650 IN WYLIE, TEXAS. THE SCHOLARSHIP IS INTENDED TO ASSIST A DESERVING STUDENT IN CONTINUING THEIR EDUCATION IN A SKILLED TRADE/VOCATIONAL DEGREE PROGRAM SUCH AS VET TECH AT THE WYLIE CAMPUS. CRITERIA: MUST HAVE AND MAINTAIN AT LEAST A 2.5 GPA. MUST MAINTAIN A MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS PER SEMESTER. REMAIN IN GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING. PREFERENCES: STUDENT OF A QUALIFIED VOCATIONAL DEGREE OR CERTIFICATE PROGRAM AT THE WYLIE CAMPUS, ANY MASONIC AFFILIATION THROUGH THEMSELVES OR A FAMILY MEMBER, US CITIZEN, COLLIN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE AND ESTABLISHED RESIDENT, SINGLE PARENT.
