THE MISSION OF THE IDAHO ACADEMY OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS IS TO ADVOCATE FOR IDAHO FAMILY PHYSICIANS AND THEIR PATIENTS. THE IDAHO ACADEMY OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS IS COMMITTED TO QUALITY HEALTH CARE, EDUCATION, AND ADVOCACY ON BEHALF OF IDAHOS FAMILY PHYSICIANS AND THEIR PATIENTS.

IN 2022 THE IAFP HELD A VIRTUAL LEGISLATIVE RECEPTION WHERE WE SHARED INFORMATION ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION IN IDAHO. WE FEATURED THREE RESIDENT MEMBERS THAT PLAN TO STAY IN IDAHO TO PRACTICE AFTER RESIDENCY AND WE DEVELOPED A SHORT VIDEO DESCRIBING THE IMPORTANCE OF GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION IN IDAHO.IN FALL OF 2022, WE VISITED MEDICAL STUDENTS IN THE WWAMI PROGRAM AND THE ICOM PROGRAM TO DISCUSS THE BENEFITS OF FAMILY MEDICINE AND RECRUIT THESE STUDENTS INTO THE SPECIALTY. WE ALSO TRAVELED TO FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAMS IN POCATELLO AND IDAHO FALLS TO SHARE OUR WORK WITH THOSE PROGRAMS AND ENGAGE IN DIALOGUE.WE WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS ABOUT CHANGES TO REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH POLICY IN IDAHO AND CREATED A SERIES OF IMPORTANT EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES ON THIS TOPIC.IN THE SPRING OF 2022, WE RETURNED TO HOLDING AN IN-PERSON ANNUAL CONFERENCE ATTENDED BY OVER 80 OF OUR MEMBERS IN SUN VALLEY IDAHO. WE OFFERED 13 CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME CREDITS) OVER TWO DAYS. THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER AND FALL WE OFFERED AN EVENING CME SERIES ONLINE. WE ALSO SUPPORTED A NEW CONFERENCE FOR MEMBERS IN NORTHERN IDAHO IN AUGUST OF 2022.WE PROVIDED SIX SCHOLARSHIPS TO MEDICAL STUDENTS TO ATTEND THE AAFPS NATIONAL CONFERENCE AND PASSED TWO RESOLUTIONS ON VACCINATIONS AND REIMBURSEMENT PRACTICES AT THE AAFP CONGRESS OF DELEGATES. WE LED ON ELEVEN RESOLUTIONS AT THE IDAHO MEDICAL ASSOCIATION HOUSE OF DELEGATES FOCUSED ON PROTECTING THE PHYSICIAN/PATIENT RELATIONSHIP. ISSUED A QUARTERLY HARD COPY JOURNAL, SENT TWICE MONTHLY ENEWS COMMUNICATIONS, AND SECURED A GRANT TO ADVANCE SUICIDE PREVENTION AND ANOTHER GRANT TO SUPPORT HEALTH EQUITY.
