AMERICORP - YOUTHBUILD PROGRAMS ACROSS THE U.S. HELP UNEMPLOYED AND OUT-OF-SCHOOL YOUNG PEOPLE AGES 16 TO 24 ATTAIN THEIR HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY (HSE) OR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA. DURING THAT TIME, THEY ALSO LEARN CAREER SKILLS BY BUILDING AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND OTHER COMMUNITY ASSETS IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS WHILE ENGAGING IN COMMUNITY SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING. GRADUATES LEAVE PREPARED FOR SUCCESS IN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION, CAREERS AND REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIPS - AND AS A PART OF A STRONG AND SUPPORTIVE GLOBAL COMMUNITY.


YOUTHBUILD - YOUTHBUILD IS A PROGRAM TO ALLOW NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO FUND PROJECTS TO ASSIST HIGH-RISK YOUTH LEARN HOUSING CONSTRUCTION JOB SKILLS AND COMPLETE THEIR HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION. PARTICIPANTS ENHANCE THEIR SKILLS AS THEY CONSTRUCT AND/OR REHABILITATE AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW-INCOME AND HOMELESS PERSONS OR FAMILIES. GRANT FUNDS WILL BE USED TO PROVIDE DISADVANTAGED YOUTH WITH: THE EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT SKILLS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE ECONOMIC SELF- SUFFICIENCY IN OCCUPATIONS IN HIGH DEMAND AND POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES; OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEANINGFUL WORK AND SERVICE TO THEIR COMMUNITIES; AND OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP EMPLOYMENT AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND A COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AMONG YOUTH IN LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES.


PHILADELPHIA WORKS - OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS. TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO FAMILIES AS THEY MAKE THE TRANSITION FROM DEPENDENCE ON PUBLIC ASSISTANCE TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY. PA'S WIOA YOUTH INVESTMENT ENCOURAGES THE NETWORK OF WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROVIDERS ALONG WITH PUBLIC HOUSING AGENCIES TO DEVELOP WORKFORCE PROGRAMS FOR NEEDY AND AT-RISK YOUTH THAT PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES, AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS SUCH AS FINANCIAL LITERACY AND TIME MANAGEMENT. THE ORGANZIATION WILL RECRUIT, ENROLL, AND SERVE AT LEAST 15 YOUTH AND YOUN ADULTS, AGES 16 TO 24 YEARS WITH LITTLE OR NO WORK EXPERIENCE AND TARGETED OUTREACH TO YOUTH WHO RESIDE IN NORTH PHILADELPHIA.
