RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF SCRANTON, INC. PROVIDES HOUSING AND PROGRAMING FOR FAMILIES OF CHILDREN BEING TREATED AT AREA MEDICAL CENTERS. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A BED AND BREAKFAST STYLE HOUSE IN SCRANTON, PA WITH ALL THE AMENITIES OF HOME AND 24 HOUR ON-SITE MANAGEMENT. IT PROVIDES: LARGE RECREATIONAL AREAS,TELEVISION, CABLE SERVICE, INTERNET ACCESS, PHONE SERVICE, A FULLY STOCKED KITCHEN, LAUNDRY AREA, PRIVATE ROOMS AND TRANSPORTATION. THE ORGANIZATON ALSO OPERATES FOUR RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOMS IN THREE AREA HOSPITALS, BRINGING THE COMFORT OF THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE INTO A HOSPITAL JUST FOOTSTEPS FROM A CHILD PATIENT'S BEDSIDE. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND EVEN DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE PANDEMIC IN 2020 RMH OF SCRANTON PROVIDED SAFE, EMERGENCY OVERNIGHT HOUSING IN AREA HOTELS FOR EVERY FAMILY THAT NEEDED THESE ESSENTIAL SERVICES. THE RMHS IN HOSPITAL FAMILY ROOMS WERE ALSO UNIQUELY CONVERTED TO SUPPORT MEDICAL STAFF WITH A SAFE AND SANITIZED RESPITE THAT ALSO PROVIDED NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT DURING THE ENITIRE LOCKDOWN AND BEYOND. TRANSPORTATION AND NUTRITION PROGRAMING FOR FAMILIES CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WITHOUT STOPPAGE OR DELAY. ALSO, EVERY MOTHER THAT HAD A CHILD IN OUR REGION'S NEO-NATAL UNITS RECEIVE SUPPORT THROUGH OUR HOSPITALITY BAG PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES ITEMS FOR THEIR CHILD, GIFT CARDS, AND FOOD SUPPLIES WITH CONTINUED RE-STOCK AS NEEDED.
