TO PROVIDE FULL-IMMERSION CHINESE LANGUAGE TRAINING IN CHINA FOR STUDENTS OF PRINCETON AND OTHER UNIVERSITIES AND TO FOSTER CULTURAL EXCHANGE. 52 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE SUMMER 2023 PROGRAM, WHICH WAS ADMINISTERED REMOTELY DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

SUMMER PROGRAM - THE "PRINCETON IN BEIJING AT PRINCETON THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY" SUMMER 2023 PROGRAM, WITH A PROGRAM FEE OF $12,500, WHICH INCLUDED TUITION, BOARD, MEALS, EXCURSIONS, AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, WAS FORMALLY ANNOUNCED ON DECEMBER 16, 2022. A TOTAL OF 36 APPLICATIONS WERE RECEIVED BY THE APPLICATION DEADLINE. ULTIMATELY, 16 STUDENTS, BOTH PRINCETON AND NON-PRINCETON, ATTENDED AND COMPLETED THE EIGHT-WEEK PROGRAM. THE SUMMER 2023 PROGRAM BEGAN ON JUNE 12 WITH A WEEK OF TEACHER TRAINING AND AN OPENING CEREMONY ON SUNDAY, JUNE 18. CLASSES BEGAN ON JUNE 19 AND CONCLUDED AUGUST 11.
SPONSORED EVENTS - PRINCETON IN BEIJING SPONSORED A CONFERENCE ARRANGED BY PROFESSOR PERRY LINK ON "DO WE THINK DIFFERENTLY IN CHINESE AND ENGLISH. THE CONFERENCE WAS HELD OVER THE COURSE OF THE WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 21 THROUGH OCTOBER 23 PRIMARILY IN PERSON AT PRINCETON UNIVERSITY. THE PROCEEDINGS CONSISTED OF A DISCUSSION OF PAPERS PREPARED BY THE INVITEES, AND SCHOLARS IN THE FIELDS OF COGNITIVE SCIENCE, LINGUISTICS, LITERATURE, AND PHILOSOPHY. PRINCETON IN BEIJING COVERED CONFERENCE MEAL EXPENSES, LODGING AND TRAVEL FOR THE IN-PERSON PARTICIPANTS, AS WELL AS HONORARIA FOR THE CONTRIBUTORS. THE 30TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CHINESE LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION, WHICH WAS HELD IN PERSON AT PRINCETON UNIVERSITY ON SATURDAY, APRIL 29, 2023, WAS SPONSORED BY THE EAST ASIAN STUDIES PROGRAM AND PRINCETON IN BEIJING.
