Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
W.A.T.C.H. RAISES AWARENESS AND INFORMS THE PUBLIC ABOUT CHILD SAFETY ISSUES THROUGH WRITTEN MATERIALS, SPEECHES, WORKSHOPS, INTERVIEWS, PODCASTS AND PRESENTATIONS GEARED TOWARD CONSUMERS, PARENT GROUPS, SCHOOLS AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS (INCLUDING FRANCISCAN CHILDREN'S, THE JAI INSTITUTE FOR PARENTING, BOSTON UNIVERSITY, QCAP HEAD START). W.A.T.C.H. REPRESENTATIVES DISCUSSED TOY SAFETY ISSUES DURING A "LUNCH AND LEARN" PRESENTATION. THE BI-ANNUAL CONFERENCES (THE FALL "TOY SAFETY CONFERENCE AND THE SPRING "SUMMER SAFETY CONFERENCE") HAVE GENERATED EXTENSIVE NATIONAL PRESS AND MEDIA COVERAGE, SUCCESSFULLY SHARING SAFETY INFORMATION WITH THE PUBLIC, INCLUDING WASHINGTON TIMES, WBZ NEWS RADIO, CBS, WBUR-AM/NPR, FOX25 BOSTON, ASSOCIATED PRESS, AND US NEWS. FOR EXAMPLE, ONE RECENT TOY SAFETY CONFERENCE'S SAFETY INFORMATION WAS INCLUDED IN OVER 730 CLIPS FOR SOCIAL AND MEDIA OUTLETS WHOSE AUDIENCES INCLUDED 157,000 SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS, 1,503,506 NATIONAL TV AUDIENCE, 1,026,882 LOCAL TV AUDIENCE, AND 448,337,319 PRINT AND ONLINE AUDIENCE. YEAR-ROUND NEWSPAPER, RADIO, PODCAST AND TELEVISION INTERVIEWS ARE ANOTHER WAY W.A.T.C.H. HELPS KEEP THE PUBLIC INFORMED ABOUT SAFETY INFORMATION RELEVANT TO TOYS AND CHILDREN'S PRODUCTS. W.A.T.C.H.'S EFFORTS IN PROTECTING CHILDREN HAS BEEN CHRONICLED BY MANY NATIONAL AND LOCAL MEDIA OUTLETS INCLUDING THE DAILYMAILTV, WCVB ONLINE (NEWS), THE DOCTORS, MEGYN KELLY TODAY, FOX & FRIENDS, LARRY KING LIVE, DATELINE, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, THE TODAY SHOW, 60 MINUTES, CNN NEWS, THE WASHINGTON TIMES, LA TIMES, BOSTON HERALD, THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, AND USA TODAY. MEDIA ARTICLES AND APPEARANCES HAVE DISSEMINATED IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION TO A WIDE AUDIENCE (I.E. MORE THAN AN ESTIMATED ONE MILLION VIEWERS WERE REACHED AS A RESULT OF APPEARANCES ON THE DOCTORS AND MEGYN KELLY LIVE TODAY). ADDITIONALLY, W.A.T.C.H. KEEPS THE PUBLIC APPRISED OF TIMELY SAFETY ISSUES BY COMPILING AND PUBLISHING WRITTEN MATERIALS (I.E. INFORMATION ON PRODUCTS, RECALLS, INJURIES) AND BY SHARING CONTENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA (FACEBOOK, TWITTER) AND ON ITS WEBSITE (TOYSAFETY.ORG). MANY ORGANIZATIONS AND GROUPS SHARE W.A.T.C.H.'S RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS WITH THEIR PARENT AND CONSUMER AUDIENCES, SUCH AS THE WELL NEWS' "FAREWELL" NEWSLETTER. W.A.T.C.H.'S PROGRAM THIS YEAR ALSO CONTINUED ITS #SHOUTSAFETY INFORMATIONAL CAMPAIGN, HIGHLIGHTING THE IMPORTANCE OF SHARING SAFETY INFORMATION FOR THE PREVENTION OF INJURIES. THE ANNUAL "10 WORST TOY LIST", CONFERENCES, WORKSHOPS, MEDIA APPEARANCES AND SOCIAL MEDIA ARE A FEW OF THE WAYS W.A.T.C.H. CONTINUES TO FIGHT TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM UNSAFE TOYS AND OTHER CHILDREN'S PRODUCTS. THE POSITIVE RESPONSES FROM THE MEDIA AND THE PUBLIC HAVE RESULTED IN NUMEROUS TOY AND PRODUCT DESIGN CHANGES AND CHILDREN'S LIVES HAVE BEEN SAVED. BY RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS, W.A.T.C.H. FIGHTS TO ENSURE CHILDREN'S SAFETY IS A PRIORITY FOR THE INDUSTRY AND GOVERNMENT REGULATORY AGENCIES.
