MCHARRIE TOWNE OPERATES A HOUSING PROJECT FOR ELDERLY PERSONS. RENTAL OF HOUSING UNITS ARE OFFERED TO ELDERLY TENANTS SUBSTANTIALLY AT COST. THERE IS A PROGRAM OF SERVICES DESIGNED TO ASSIST THE OCCUPANTS IN MAINTAINING AN INDEPENDENT LIFESTYLE. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES: CONGREGATE KITCHEN AND DINING FACILITIES, RECREATIONAL SPACE, HOUSE- KEEPING SERVICES, MAINTENANCE, AND SECURITY. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION ENGAGES IN FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES TO SUPPLEMENT THE PROGRAMS THAT MAY NOT OTHERWISE BE AVAILABLE UNDER THE OPERATING RECEIPTS AND TO ASSIST ELDERLY OCCUPANTS WHOSE FUNDS MAY BECOME DEPLETED, THEREBY IMPAIRING THEIR ABILITY TO PAY MONTHLY CHARGES.
