THE COUNCIL PROVIDES COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT THROUGH QUALITY PREVENTION AND RECOVERY SERVICES IN VARIOUS AREAS, INCLUDING PREVENTION EDUCATION FOR YOUTH, SKILL BASED EDUCATION FOR PARENTS, PRO-SOCIAL COMMUNITY BASED ACTIVITIES, SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL HEALTH EDUCATION, HARM REDUCTION PRACTICES, FAMILY AND PEER SUPPORT SERVICES, TOBACCO CONTROL, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2021 INCLUDE: -35 RESIDENTS PARTICIPATED IN HIDDEN MISCHIEF, A SIMULATED TEENAGER BEDROOM WITH OVER 100 DRUG-RELATED ITEMS -77 INDIVIDUALS COMPLETED THE BRIDGES OUT OF POVERTY TRAINING -158 RESIDENTS PARTICIPATED IN A HIGH IN PLAIN SIGHT TRAINING -HOSTED 3 TRUNK OR TREAT EVENTS WITH 1,464 YOUTH AND 1,276 ADULTS IN ATTENDANCE -CO-HOSTED A NIGHT OF COMMUNITY, CONNECTION & HOPE WITH MORE THAN 2,500 INDIVIDUALS IN ATTENDANCE -51 RESIDENTS WERE TRAINED IN TRAINING FOR INTERVENTION PROCEDURES -MORE THAN 200 RESIDENTS WERE TRAINED TO ADMINISTER NALOXONE -REALITY CHECK YOUTH MEMBER KRISTINA DONDERS WON THE NYS YOUTH ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR AWARD -OPERATED HORIZONS YOUTH CLUBHOUSE FOR YOUTH 12-17 FEATURING MEALS, PRESENTATIONS, COMPUTER ACCESS, AND VARIOUS HEALTHY ACTIVITIES -FACILITATED PARENTING EDUCATION SESSIONS
THE COUNCIL OPERATES THE VALLERY RECOVERY CENTER IN OGDENSBURG, NY. THE VALLEY CONNECTS RECOVERY SUPPORT SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, AND THE COMMUNITY AND STRIVES TO ELIMINATE THE STIGMA SURROUNDING ADDICTION. MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2021 INCLUDE: -57 INDIVIDULAS WERE TRAINED IN THE RECOVERY COACH ACADEMY -25 INDIVIDUALS WERE TRAINED IN ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR RECOVERY COACHING -278 VISITS WERE MADE TO THE CENTER AND 315 COMMUNITY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN RECOVERY COACH SERVICES. 45 GROUPS WERE FACILITATED.
