ANNUAL PROVISION/DISTRIBUTION OF MORE THAN 50 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD TO OVER 1,000 CHARITABLE AGENCIES IN 23 COUNTIES OF NORTHEASTERN NEW YORK. THESE CHARITABLE AGENCIES PROVIDE FOOD AND MEALS TO PERSONS IN NEED.
CERTAIN HUNGER PREVENTION NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS (HPNAP) ARE SUPPORTED BY THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH BY MEANS OF PASS THROUGH ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE REGIONAL FOOD BANK OF NORTHEASTERN NEW YORK (FOOD BANK). THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE OPERATION SUPPORT GRANTS AND SUBCONTRACTS FOR MEMBER AGENCIES OF THE FOOD BANK, A NUTRITION EDUCATION PROJECT, AND A PROGRAM TO FUND THE TRANSPORTATION OF DONATED FOODS.
