BACKHAUL ALASKA: WORKS WITH 90 PLUS SMALL ALASKA COMMUNITIES TO PROVIDE NEEDED SUPPLIES, TRAINING, AND SHIPPING AND RECYCLING COSTS FOR THE BACKHAUL OF HAZARDOUS WASTES TO AN APPROPRIATE END-DESTINATION. RURAL AK COMMUNITY LANDFILLS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO PREVENT LANDFILL LEACHATE FROM RELEASING TO THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT SO THAT THE PROGRAM FILLS A VITAL GAP MISSING IN COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH.
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS: INFORM AND INSTRUCT RURAL COMMUNITIES ON THE PROPER DISPOSAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS: 49,960 OTHER SMALL PROJECTS: 93,148
