ATHLETIC EVENTS - THE IOWA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (IHSAA) PROVIDES LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT FOR MALE INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS WITHIN THE STATE OF IOWA. OVER 79,000 BOYS FROM 365 MEMBER SCHOOLS CURRENTLY COMPETE IN 11 SPORTS SANCTIONED BY THE IHSAA - FOOTBALL, CROSS COUNTRY, SWIMMING, WRESTLING, BASKETBALL, GOLF, TENNIS, TRACK & FIELD, SOCCER, BASEBALL AND BOWLING. THE IHSAA OPERATES POST SEASON COMPETITION FOR THE SPORTS LISTED. MEMBER SCHOOLS HOST POST SEASON COMPETITION AND THE IHSAA REIMBURSES THE SCHOOLS FOR A PERCENTAGE OF THE COSTS INCURRED IN HOSTING THE EVENTS. THE IHSAA DEVELOPS ATHLETIC RULES AND REGULATES TEAM PLAY, OFFERS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS RELATED TO EXERCISE, WELLNESS, NUTRITION, SPORTSMANSHIP, AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING. IOWA HALL OF PRIDE - THE IOWA HALL OF PRIDE IS A 25,000 SQUARE FOOT HIGH-TECH INTERACTIVE MUSEUM THAT CELEBRATES IOWANS AND THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. THE IOWA HALL OF PRIDE USES A VARIETY OF EXHIBITS AND INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES TO TELL THE STORY OF IOWA COMMUNITIES AND THEIR HEROES OVER THE PAST 100-PLUS YEARS, FOCUSING ON ACHIEVEMENTS IN ACADEMICS, ATHLETICS AND THE ARTS. IN THE 2021-22 YEAR, 73 STUDENT GROUPS CHOSE THE IOWA HALL OF PRIDE FOR A FIELD TRIP AND 53 OTHER GROUPS OF ADULTS AND YOUTH WERE VISITORS. SEE SCHEDULE O.WORKSHOPS WERE DEVELOPED TO ASSIST STUDENTS WITH KEY UNIVERSAL CONTRUCTS AS THEY EMBRACE THEIR ONGOING RESPONSIBILITY AS LEADERS. BY PARTNERING WITH STATE AND REGIONAL ORGANIZATIONS, PROGRAMMING WAS OFFERED IN THE AREAS OF GENDER VIOLENCE PREVENTION, CRITITCAL THINKING, COMPLEX COMMUNICATIONS, CREATIVITY, BYSTANDER ENGAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY.EFFECTIVE JUNE 30, 2022, THE IOWA HALL OF PRIDE FACILITIES HAVE PERMANENTLY CLOSED. ALL ITEMS WILL BE REMOVED, AND THE BUILDING WILL BE TURNED OVER TO POLK COUNTY DURING THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR. AS A RESULT, THE ASSOCIATION HAS RECOGNIZED AN IMPAIRMENT LOSS IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,600,000 FOR THE YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2022, WHICH IS THE APPROXIMATE BOOK VALUE OF THOSE ASSETS DEEMED TO HAVE NO FUTURE ECONOMIC VALUE
