ANNUAL EVENT TO HONOR TEXAS SONGWRITERS

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE TEXAS HERITAGE SONGWRITERS ASSOCIATION PRODUCES A HALL OF FAME AWARDS SHOW. THIS IS A PUBLIC EVENT WHICH SERVES AS AN INDUCTION CEREMONY FOR ITS SONGWRITING HONOREES.

OVER THE PAST DECADES MANY OF OUR SUCCESSFUL SONGWRITERS, IN ALL GENES OF MUSIC HAVE COME FROM TEXAS. HOWEVER, WE HAVE LEARNED THAT THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF SUCCESSFUL SONGWRITERS MOVING TO NASHVILLE AND OTHER PLACES WHERE THEY COULD INCREASE THEIR LIKELIHOOD FOR EXPOSURE AND COMMERCIAL SUCCESS IS NOT WHAT IT ONCE WAS. ALTHOUGH SONGWRITING IS NOT A DYING ART, IT IS CERTAINLY NOT A PROLIFIC AS IT ONCE WAS. IN 2011, THE TEXAS HERITAGE SONGWRITERS ASSOCIATION DECIDED TO SEE IF THERE WERE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT THEY COULD MAKE TO REVERSE THIS TREND. SPECIFICALLY, THEY PARTNERED WITH THE KERRVILLE FOLK FESTIVAL TO CONDUCT SONGWRITING. SEE PART III, LN 4B STATEMENT.

IN 2021 THE TEXAS HERITAGE SONGWRITERS USED ALL OF ITS EFFORTS ON THE TWO ABOVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
