PROVIDING MEDICAL EDUCATION FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH KNOWN CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE (DISEASES OF THE HEART AND BLOOD VESSELS). THE MEDICAL EDUCATIONAL TOPICS WILL ADDRESS MANY ASPECTS OF HEART DISEASE AND ITS VARIOUS RISK FACTORS (I.E. CORONARY DISEASE, HYPERTENSION, POOR NUTRITION, DIABETES, ELEVATED CHOLESTEROL DISEASE, ETC.). EDUCATIONAL FORMATS WILL BE MULTIFACETED INCLUDING LECTURE SERIES BY LOCAL AND NATIONAL HEALTHCARE SPECIALISTS, PATIENT SUPPORT GROUPS AND SPECIAL "HOW-TO" COURSES (FOOD PREPARATION SHOPPING COURSES, ETC.). EDUCATIONAL SERIES WILL BE HELD ATLEAST QUARTERLY. THE RESEARCH ASPECT OF THE INSTITUTE WILL CONSIST OF EVALUATING THE CLINICAL OUTCOMES OF INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING IN THE CLINICAL PROGRAMS.
