EDUCATION ON IMMIGRANT RIGHTS, PROTECTIONS AND REMEDIES. CIVIC ENGAGEMENT OF LATINO AND LOW WAGE WORKERS AND PUBLIC AWARENESS REGARDING IMMIGRANT AND WORKERS' RIGHTS IN NEW MEXICO AND ELSEWHERE.

CIVIL RIGHTS PROJECT: WE ORGANIZED WITH THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, TESTING EVENTS WITH KNOW-YOUR-RIGHTS INFORMATION IN SANTA FE AND SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO, TARGETING SPANISH-SPEAKING LATINO COMMUNITIES, RESULTING IN 1,500 PEOPLE GETTING TESTED. WE WORKED WITH NEW MEXICO HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO DESIGN A 7 MILLION DISASTER RELIEF CASH ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR 15,000 FAMILIES THAT DID NOT RECEIVE STIMULUS CHECKS. WE ORGANIZED OVER 20 ROUND TABLES OVER ZOOM WITH MEMBERS AND ELECTED OFFICIALS REGARDING THE IMPACT THE COVID IS HAVING IN IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE WITH 43,000 VIEWS.
UNITED WORKER CENTER (UWC): THIS PROJECT ENABLES WORKERS TO OBTAIN INFORMATION ABOUT PROTECTIONS AND REMEDIES, FILE WAGE CLAIMS, AND ORGANIZE FOR IMPROVED WAGES AND WORKPLACE CONDITIONS. WE WERE ABLE TO REACH WORKERS THROUGH CALLS, ZOOM MEETINGS, AND FACEBOOK. STAFF AND MEMBERS PARTICIPATED AND COORDINATED CAMPAIGNS THAT CHALLENGED ANTI-WORKER POLICIES AND PROMOTED WORKER-FRIENDLY ONES, BOTH LOCALLY AND STATEWIDE.
VIVA EL VOTO: VIVA EL VOTO IS A CITIZENSHIP, VOTER REGISTRATION, AND EDUCATION PROGRAM REACHING OUT THROUGH PHONE BANKING, CANVASSING, DIRECT MAIL, AND COMMUNITY FORUMS. 136 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN OUR CITIZENSHIP PROGRAM, WHILE 48 MADE IT THROUGH THE PROCESS. WE REACHED 15,000 UNLIKELY LATINO VOTERS WITH KEY VOTER INFORMATION, INCLUDING HOW TO VOTE SAFELY DURING THE PANDEMIC.
IMMIGRANT RESOURCE CENTER: BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, OUR RESOURCE CENTER WAS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. HOWEVER, WE WERE ABLE TO REACH THE COMMUNITY THROUGH FACEBOOK, ZOOM MEETINGS, AND PHONE CALLS.
