MONTESSORI SCHOOL OF LOUISVILLE (MSL) IS A PRIVATE, INDEPENDENT NONPROFIT SCHOOL IN LOUISVILLE, KY. MSL IS THE ONLY SACS/ADVANCED - ACCREDITED MONTESSORI PROGRAM IN LOUISVILLE SERVING CHILDREN 18 MONTHS TO GRADE 8. MSL IS FOUNDED ON BEST PRACTICES IN MONTESSORI EDUCATION, UTILIZING THE RICH PEDAGOGY OF MONTESSORI EDUCATION WHICH RESONATES WITH CURRENT PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH. OUR TODDLER AND EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS SERVE CHILDREN 18 MONTHS THROUGH 6 YEARS. IN A SAFE, CARING, DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE ENVIRONMENT, CHILDREN ARE ENCOURAGED TO EXPLORE AND ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES THAT DEVELOP THEIR INDEPENDENCE AND FOSTER SOCIAL AWARENESS. IN THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR, THE MONTESSORI SCHOOL OF LOUISVILLE SERVED APPROXIMATELY 200 CHILDREN RANGING FROM THE AGES OF 3 YEARS TO 14 YEARS OLD. MSL OPERATED THE FOLLOWING CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENTS: FOUR EARLY CHILDHOOD (AGES 3 TO 6 YEARS), THREE LOWER ELEMENTARY (AGES 6 TO 9 YEARS), ONE UPPER ELEMENTARY (AGES 9 TO 11 YEARS), AND ONE ADOLESCENT (AGES 12 TO 14 YEARS). EACH CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT WAS STAFFED WITH A MONTESSORI-CERTIFIED LEAD TEACHER AND A CLASSROOM ASSISTANT. AFTER-SCHOOL EXTENDED CARE WASSTAFFED WITH FOUR TEACHERS; AN EXTENSIVE SELECTION OF AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS WERE OFFERED (E.G. DANCE, CHESS, CHOIR, ART, DRAMA, TENNIS, SOCCER ANDROBOTICS). TWO FULL TIME ADMINISTRATORS, A FULL TIME OFFICE MANAGER, AND A FULL TIME COMMUNICATION MANAGER SERVE AS SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOL OPERATIONS.THIS YEAR, OUR FIVE-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN WAS IMPLEMENTED.THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY CONDUCTED AN ANNUAL FUND DRIVE AND NUMEROUS PTO-LED FUNDRAISERS.
