AS PART OF SEEDS' GRANT "EDUCATION, EMPOWERMENT, PROSPERITY IN BIH 2020" TO THE BOSNIA-BASED ORGANIZATION BILD, SEEDS PROVIDED DIRECT PROJECT FUNDING AND FINANCED BOSNIA-BASED PERSONNEL FOR AN ON-GOING SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING TRAINING PROJECT WHICH TEACHES INTRODUCTORY AND ADVANCED SOFTWARE SKILLS TO YOUNG PEOPLE IN NORTHEASTERN BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA. THE SKILLS TAUGHT INCLUDE JAVA, JAVASCRIPT, SQL, HTML/CSS AS THE BASIS FOR BECOMING FULL STACK PROFESSIONAL SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS. AT THE BEGINNING OF 2020, 107 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TRAINING CONSISTING OF TWENTY-FIVE 3 HOUR IN-PERSON CLASSES AND 15 WEEKS OF DAILY ONLINE ASSIGNMENTS WITH CODE REVIEW. HOWEVER, DUE TO COVID, BILD STOPPED CLASSES AND ALLOWED TRAINEES TO REVIEW COURSE MATERIAL ON THEIR OWN ONLINE, DO ASSIGNMENTS AT THEIR OWN PACE, AND ASK FOR HELP FROM BILD'S ONLINE MENTORS WHEN NEEDED. EACH WEEK, BILD MENTORS PROVIDE APPROXIMATELY 4 TO 10 HOURS OF ONLINE MENTORING FOR ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS. IN LIEU OF BILD'S ANNUAL TUZLA SUMMER INSTITUTE, BILD HELD ONLINE WORKSHOPS ON INTRODUCTORY JAVA FOR APPROXIMATELY 75 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND ADVANCED SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE FOR 7 PROFESSIONAL SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS. SEEDS ALSO PROVIDED DIRECT PROJECT FUNDING FOR AN ON-GOING WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT PROJECT WHICH, THROUGH SUBSIDIES AND MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE, HELPS WOMEN HARNESS THEIR COLLECTIVE PURCHASING POWER AND PURCHASE CHICKEN FOOD AND BABY CHICKS AT A DISCOUNTED RATE. THIS PROJECT CONSISTED OF CHICKEN FOOD AND CHICK DELIVERIES IN THE SPRING AND FALL TO FOUR PARTICIPATING WOMEN'S ASSOCIATIONS REPRESENTING 137 FAMILIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF ZVORNIK IN NORTHEASTERN BOSNIA ALONG THE DRINA RIVER.
