EDUCATION OF GIRLS IS OUR MAIN FOCUS AND CONTINUES TO BE OUR MISSION. APPROXIMATELY TWO MILLION SOUTH SUDANESE HAVE FLED TO UGANDA TO ESCAPE THE CIVIL WAR AND MILITIA VIOLENCE. THE PROGRAM IS PAYING ALL THE EXPENSES FOR 50 GIRLS TO ATTEND EITHER ONE OF TWO PRIMARY OR ONE OF TWO SECONDARY SCHOOLS FOR THE 2021 SCHOOL YEAR WHICH RUNS FROM FEBRUARY THROUGH DECEMBER. ETE PAYS FOR THE GIRLS' TUITION AND ROOM AND BOARD. IN ADDITION, THE FOUNDATION PAYS FOR OTHER NEEDS FOR THE GIRLS SUCH AS THEIR SCHOOL UNIFORMS AND OTHER CLOTHING, BEDDING FOR THE DORMS, ALL SCHOOL MATERIALS INCLUDING NOTEBOOKS AND TEXTBOOKS, AND TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE REFUGEE CAMPS DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS. OF THE 50 GIRLS THAT WE SUPPORT, 10 WHO ARE OF AGE SCORED WELL ON THE UGANDAN NATIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOL TEST TO BE ABLE TO MATRICULATE INTO A SECONDARY SCHOOL.OUR MAIN PROJECT IS TO BUILD AND RUN A SCHOOL IN SOUTH SUDAN, IN THE VILLAGE OF ISALARO, WHICH WAS IN THE PLANNING STAGES WHEN THE CIVIL WAR ERUPTED. THE ISALARO REGION OF APPROXIMATELY HALF A MILLION PEOPLE CURRENTLY HAS NO FORMAL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES OF ANY KIND. THE SCHOOL CAMPUS WILL PROVIDE EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR ADULT WOMEN, AS WELL AS OTHER VITAL SERVICES FOR THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES.THE ORAL HISTORY PROJECT CONTINUES TO CHRONICLE THE PLIGHT OF THE GIRLS THAT OUR ORGANIZATION HELPED IN 2006 WHO CAME TO THE US UNDER THE ASYLUM PROGRAM AND THE ROLE THAT SISTER LUISE RADLMAIER PLAYED TO HELP THE GIRLS OVERCOME THE VIOLENCE THEY EXPERIENCED IN THEIR HOMELAND.
