OPERATION OF THE PALMER MUSEUM OF HISTORY ART, THE PALMER MUSEUM SHOP AND HISTORIC WALKING TOURS. WE WORK TO TELL THE STORY OF PALMER THROUGH OUR CURATED HISTORIC DISPLAYS AND EXHIBITS, HISTORIC WALKING TOURS, AND THROUGH SUPPORTING PALMER ARTISTS AND ARTS THROUGH OUR MUSEUM STORE. WE GAVE TOURS TO OVER 2,000 PEOPLE OVER THE COURSE OF THE SUMMER THROUGH PALMERS HISTORIC DISTRICT, AND CARRIED PRODUCT FROM OVER TWO DOZEN PALMER ARTISTS AND CRAFTERS IN OUR SHOP THROUGH THE 2021 SEASON.
PERMANENT EXHIBIT UPGRADE - IN 2021, THE MUSEUM LAUNCHED A NUMBER OF PLANNED UPGRADES TO OUR PERMANENT EXHIBITS, INCLUDING ORDERING A TOPOGRAPHICAL MAP OF THE GREATER PALMER AREA, ADDING NEW INFORMATIVE PANELS, AND PROVIDING NEW HOUSING FOR SOME OF OUR MORE FRAGILE DISPLAY PIECES. THE TOPOGRAPHICAL MAP WILL PROVIDE A TOOL FOR VISITORS AND OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS ALIKE TO UNDERSTAND THE GEOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY OF THE AREA.
PALMER VISITOR GUIDE - AS A PART OF MISSION TO TELL PALMERS STORY AND REPRESENT PALMER AS A DESTINATION FOR VISITORS, WE PRINT AND PRODUCE THE PALMER VISITOR GUIDE AS PART OF OUR VISITOR INFORMATION SERVICES CONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF PALMER. THIS 44 PAGE BOOKLET CONTAINS INFORMATION ON PALMERS HISTORY, SEVERAL UNIQUE TOURS TELLING THE HISTORY OR THE PALMER AREA, AND MAPS, TRIP PLANNING ADVICE, AND GUIDES TO LOCAL ARTISTS, BUSINESS, AND ATTRACTIONS FOR VISITORS AND OUR COMMUNITY ALIKE. EXPENSES FOR THIS PROGRAM IN 2021 WENT TO STORAGE COSTS FOR THE PHYSICAL GUIDE BOOKS, DISTRIBUTION COSTS TO SEND THE GUIDES AROUND THE STATE, AND PLANNING FOR THE 2022 GUIDE.
