THE MISSION OF JOHNSON SERVICE CORPS IS TO DEVELOP YOUNG-ADULT ANTI-RACIST SERVANT LEADERS THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN A YEAR OF SOCIAL JUSTICE ENGAGEMENT, INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY LIVING, LEADERSHIP TRAINING, AND SPIRITUAL PRACTICE.

JOHNSON SERVICE CORPS TEACHES YOUNG ADULTS SKILLS TO BE THE NEXT GENERATION OF COMPASSIONATE LEADERS OUR WORLD NEEDS. JSC PROVIDES A YEAR-LONG, POST-COLLEGE PROGRAM THAT DEVELOPS LEADERSHIP THROUGH SOCIAL JUSTICE INTERNSHIPS, VOCATIONAL DISCERNMENT, CONTEMPLATIVE CHRISTIAN FORMATION, AND INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY LIVING. THE PROGRAM PARTNERS WITH LOCAL NON-PROFITS AND SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES FOR CORPS MEMBER INTERNSHIPS.JOHNSON SERVICE CORPS HAD NO FELLOWS IN THE PROGRAM YEAR OF 2022-2023. IN 2022, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN JSCS 23 YEAR HISTORY, THE PROGRAM WAS UNABLE TO RECRUIT PARTICIPANTS TO SERVE AS FELLOWS FOR THE PROGRAM YEAR. THIS WAS DUE TO A NUMBER OF FACTORS INCLUDING IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC ON SERVICE CORPS PROGRAMS AROUND THE COUNTRY AND RISING FINANCIAL PRESSURES ON GEN Z. AFTER A YEAR OF SABBATICAL AND MAKING PROGRAM CHANGES, WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY RECRUITED A FULL COHORT AND ARE RETURNING TO A STRONG AND STEADY PROGRAM AGAIN.
