TO PROMOTE EQUITY IN OPPORTUNITY FOR MARYLIN AVENUE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (TITLE I, LVJUSD SCHOOL) HIGH ACHIEVING STUDENTS IN PURSUIT OF THEIR EDUCATIONAL GOALS BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL, THE FOUNDATION CREATED THE PEDROZZI YOUNG SCHOLARS PROGRAM. KEY ELEMENTS OF THE PROGRAM ARE ENRICHMENT, ENGAGEMENT, EXPOSURE AND ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO HELP AND ENCOURAGE THESE STUDENTS TO SUCCEED ACADEMICALLY IN THEIR MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, AND TO BE BETTER PREPARED FOR ENTERING A COLLEGE OR VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM. PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT IS A KEY COMPONENT OF THE PROGRAM. WORKSHOPS TO HELP PARENTS UNDERSTAND AND ENGAGE WITH THE SCHOOLS ARE PRESENTED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE FOUNDATION COLLABORATES WITH OTHER STAKEHOLDERS TO DELIVERY IMPACTFUL PROGRAMS. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH QUEST SCIENCE CENTER,PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS WORKED AS INTERNS, PARTICIPATED IN COMMUNITY SCIENCE PROGRAMS, AND/OR CREATED A PROJECT TO BE DISPLAYED AT A REGIONAL INN
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH INNOVATION TRI-VALLEY, THE PEDROZZI FOUNDATION PAID FOR LIVERMORE SCHOOL DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND RECENT GRADUATES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BOOMERANG CAREER LAUNCH ACADEMY. THE GOAL OF THE ITV BOOMERANG PROGRAM IS TO INTRODUCE LOCAL STUDENTS TO FUTURE LOCAL CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. CAREER LAUNCH ACADEMY IS A STUDENT-CENTER COURSE WHICH PROVIDES STUDENTS THE TOOLS AND RESOURCES TO BUILD A PROFESSIONAL NETWORK FROM SCRATCH AS PART OF THEIR HOLISTIC INTERNSHIP/JOB SEARCH.
THE FOUNDATION DISTRIBUTED SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS TO 392 STUDENTSATTENDING 121 DIFFERENT COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS. OF THE STUDENTSRECEIVING INITIAL FUNDING FROM THE FOUNDATION IN 2022, 20% ARE THEFIRST IN THEIR FAMILIES TO ATTEND COLLEGE. OF THE $428,341 INSCHOLARSHIPS DISBURSED, $34,750 WAS FOR COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL TRAINING, INCLUDING TOOL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ELIGIBLE APPRENTICES ENROLLED IN ONE OF THE FIVE BUILDING TRADES APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS AT ABC NORCAL. THE FOUNDATION WORKS TO HELP CREATE A COLLEGE- AND CAREER-BOUNDCULTURE FOR ALL LIVERMORE STUDENTS. THE FOUNDATION VALUES ALL POST-SECONDARY PURSUITS, WHICH IS WHY SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED FOR TRADITIONAL COLLEGE-BOUND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AS WELL AS ELIGIBLE STUDENTS PURSING CAREER PREPARATION THROUGH VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS. IN ADDITION TO AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS, PROGRAMMING INCLUDES FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOPS, THE PEDROZZI YOUNG SCHOLARS PROGRAM AND EXTRA RESOURCES FOR COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENTS
