PLANNING: GEORGIA BIKES WORKED WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (GDOT),LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AND OTHER PARTNERS TO IDENTIFY ACTIONABLE BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS. WE ADVISED ON INFRASTRUCTURE CONNECTIVITY OPPORTUNITIES, IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES, CAUSES OF CRASHES IN "HOT SPOT" AREAS AND PROPOSED DESIGN INTERVENTIONS.WE ALSO SECURED SUPPORT FOR AND LED THE NONPROFIT SECTOR'S PARTICIPATION IN GEORGIA'S FIRST-EVER STATEWIDE ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN (HAPPENING IN RURAL AREAS AS PHASE ONE).

EDUCATION: GEORGIA BIKES HELD A SUCCESSFUL BIKE-WALK-LIVE SUMMIT IN PERSON WITH OVER 100 REGISTRANTS AND SESSIONS COVERING INFRASTRUCTURE,POLICY AND SAFETY, AS WELL AS MOBILE WORKSHOPS. WE ALSO PROVIDED SAFE CYCLING EDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS ACROSS THE STATE,DRIVER TRAINING TO MAKE PEOPLE SAFER AS THEY WALK AND BIKE, AND LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING TO TEACH POLICE HOW TO PROTECT PEOPLE WALKING AND BIKING.
TECHNICAL ASSISSTANCE: GEORGIA BIKES INITIATED THE PROCESS OF CREATING AN ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION AND RECREATION RESOURCE CENTER TO INCREASE THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF PLANNING AND INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS SUPPORTING SAFE WALKING AND BIKING IN GEORGIA. WORK IN 2023 INCLUDED SECURING INITIAL FUNDING AND DEVELOPING AN ORGANIZATIONAL PLAN FOR THE RESOURCE CENTER.
