CAMERON IS AN ECUMENICAL URBAN COMMUNITY CENTER IN THE LYELL / OTIS AREA OF ROCHESTER, NY, AN AREA OF HIGH POVERTY. CAMERON PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES TO BUILD LIFE SKILLS AND POSITIVE VALUES IN A STRUCTURED, SAFE, AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT. IT ALSO PROVIDES MEALS FOR THE HUNGRY AND CLOTHING FOR THOSE IN NEED.

KITCHEN:CAMERON OPERATES A KITCHEN AND DINING AREA THAT IS USED TO SERVE LUNCH FOR LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND DINNER FOR STUDENTS OF THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM. IN 2020, APPROXIMATELY $270,000 IN DONATED FOOD, AS WELL AS FOOD RECEIVED FROM FOODLINK, INC, WAS SERVED IN NEARLY 27,000 LUNCH MEALS AND 2,400 STUDENT MEALS.
YOUTH:CAMERON OPERATES AN AFTER SCHOOL LEARNING AND RECREATION PROGRAM FOR APPROXIMATELY 57 GRADE SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM A VERY LOW INCOME AREA, AND A SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM FOR APPROXIMATELY 57 LOCAL YOUTH. MANY VOLUNTEERS SUPPLEMENT CAMERON STAFF TO DELIVER THESE SERVICES.
CLOTHING HOUSE:CAMERON OPERATES A CLOTHING HOUSE, A SEPARATE BUILDING WHERE DONATED CLOTHING IS DISTRIBUTED TO LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS. DURING 2020, 644 PEOPLE WERE SERVED.
SOCIAL WORK:CAMERON HELPS TO SEND GRADUATES OF OUR YOUTH PROGRAMS TO LOCAL PAROCHIAL SCHOOLS WITH THE HELP OF LOYAL SUPPORTERS DONATING SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS. CAMERON ASSISTS THE STUDENTS FINANCIALLY, PHYSICALLY, AND EMOTIONALLY. IN 2020, 6 STUDENTS WERE ATTENDING MERCY AND/OR MCQUAID.
