THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM AND FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES, THE ZONTA INTERNATIONAL- ALBANY PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THAT SERVE THE HOMELESS, VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AND/OR THOSE RECOVERING FROM SUBSTANCE ABUSE; THAT PROVIDE LEGAL ASSISTANCE AND HEALTH CARE; AND THAT FOSTER SELF-ESTEEM AND INDEPENDENCE FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS. SOME OF THE ORGANIZATIONS THAT WERE RECIPIENTS OF OUR FINANCIAL AWARDS FOR THE 2017- 2018 ZONTA YEAR WERE: THE LEGAL PROJECT WHICH PROVIDES LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO THE NEEDY; COMPASSION IN ACTION (KOINONIA PRIMARY CARE CLINIC) WHICH PROVIDES QUALITY PRIMARY AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES TO THE UNDERSERVED; THE CAPITAL CITY RESCUE MISSION WOMENS AND CHILDREN'S NEW FAITH FAMILY CENTER WHICH PROVIDES SHELTER TO NEEDY WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN; THE ST. PAUL'S CENTER A SHELTER FOR HOMELESS MOTHERS AND THEIR CHILDREN; AND THE NEXT STEP A COMMUNITY RESIDENCE FOR RECOVERING ALCOHOLIC/CHEMICALLY DEPENDENT WOMEN.
