STEPPING STONES NETWORK: MOMS & KIDS PROGRAM (PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS RESIDENTIAL RECOVERY PROGRAM) STEPPING STONES IS A NETWORK OF TRAINED PROFESSIONALS AND COMPASSIONATE INDIVIDUALS WHO PARTNER WITH ADULTS AND NURTURE CHILDREN IMPACTED BY COMMERCIAL SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AS THEY TAKE STEPS TO INTERRUPT THE CYCLE OF TRAUMA, DEVELOP LIFE SKILLS, AND BUILD A SAFE CIRCLE OF SUPPORT. WE SELECT CLIENTS WHO ARE DETERMINED TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN REBUILDING THEIR LIVES. WE THEN SURROUND THEM WITH A CIRCLE OF LOVE AND SUPPORT THAT PROVIDES SAFETY, BASIC NEEDS, AND INDIVIDUALIZED THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMMING THAT ADDRESSES PURPOSE, HOME MANAGEMENT, FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, SPIRITUALITY, PARENTING, RELATIONSHIPS, TRAUMA AND ADDICTION RECOVERY, AND EDUCATION AND JOB PREPARATION. IN 2021, THIS PROGRAM SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITIONED FROM A CARF ACCREDITED RESIDENTIAL RECOVERY HOME FOR 4-FAMILIES TO AN INDEPENDENT LIVING MODEL. BY THE END OF 2021, STONES WAS SERVING 6 FAMILIES. TWO OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS PROVIDED SERVICES TO TWO ADDITIONAL FAMILIES IN THEIR OWN HOMES DUE TO COVID-19 INFECTION RATES.
STEPPING STONES NETWORK: OUTREACH WE BELIEVE THAT LIVES DAMAGED BY ABUSIVE AND DESTRUCTIVE EXPERIENCES CAN BE RESTORED ONE STEP AT A TIME. WE DO THIS BY: 1) ENGAGING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND CHURCH TO GET INVOLVED; 2) PARTNERING WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT AND OTHER CHICAGOLAND AGENCIES; 3) COLLABORATING WITH LOCAL AND NATIONAL TASK FORCES TO IMPROVE SERVICES, ADVOCATE ON THE ISSUE, AND RECEIVE CLIENT REFERRALS. STEPPING STONES PROVIDES A HOTLINE AND ADVOCACY/MENTORING SERVICES FOR SURVIVORS AND GROUPS FOR ADULTS INVOLVED IN SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OR ADDICTION. IN 2021, WE HAD 45 HOTLINE CALLS AND 464 TOUCH POINTS. SSN SERVED A TOTAL OF 41 ADULTS AND CHILDREN, EACH FOR 3 TO 9 MONTHS. STEPPING STONES ALSO PROVIDED GENERAL EDUCATION AND VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT SESSIONS MONTHLY AND SPEAKS TO COMMUNITY GROUPS UPON REQUEST. ONGOING EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION WITH THE NETWORK IS PROVIDED VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND EMAIL CAMPAIGNS. THE VOLUNTEER NETWORK SERVED 3,097 HOURS.
