CATSKILL ARTS SOCIETY IS A MULTI-ARTS CENTER WITH YEAR ROUND PROGRAMMING THAT INCLUDES VISUAL ART EXHIBITIONS, CLASSES & WORKSHOPS, LIVE PERFORMANCES AND SPECIAL EVENTS. IN A CALENDAR YEAR, CATSKILL ARTS SOCIETY PRESENTS 5 EXHIBITIONS THAT CHANGE EVERY 3-5 WEEKS AND INCLUDE THE SULLIVAN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ART SHOW, TWO MEMBER'S SHOWS AND A SILENT AUCTION BENEFIT EXHIBITION. IN ADDITION CAS ASSEMBLES A DIFFERENT CURATORIAL PANEL EACH YEAR TO REVIEW PROPOSALS FOR A GIVEN SEASON. FOUR TO FIVE EXHIBITIONS A YEAR ARE CHOSEN BY THIS PANEL. ALL EXHIBITIONS FEATURE AN ARTIST'S TALK (WHEN APPLICABLE) AND AN OPENING RECEPTION FREE TO THE PUBLIC ALLOWING ARTISTS AND AUDIENCES TO INTERACT. IN 2021, MULTIPLE ARTISTS EXHIBITED THEIR WORK IN 5 DIFFERENT EXHIBITIONS AND 2,500 VISITORS CAME THROUGH THE DOOR.
CATSKILL ARTS SOCIETY HOSTS ONGOING MULTI-ARTS CLASSES FOR ALL AGES THAT INCLUDE VISUAL ART, DANCE, THEATER PERFORMANCE, WRITING, POTTERY, DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND PHOTOSHOP. CLASSES RANGE FROM ONE DAY WORKSHOPS TO TEN WEEK COURSES THAT ARE TAUGHT BY ACCOMPLISHED ARTISTS AND INSTRUCTORS FROM AROUND THE REGION. CATSKILL ARTS SOCIETY ALSO OFFERS A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. IN 2021, 2 CLASSES WERE OFFERED WITH 121 STUDENTS.
CATSKILL ARTS SOCIETY HOSTS SPECIAL EVENTS IN AN EFFORT TO CULTIVATE INTEREST, PARTICIPATION AND ENJOYMENT OF THE ARTS AND PROMOTE THEIR EFFORTS IN THE COMMMUNITY.
