SCIENTISTS AT TRUDEAU INSTITUTE FOCUS ON DEVELOPING AN IN-DEPTH UNDERSTANDING OF THE ROLE OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM IN HEALTH AND DISEASE TO FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF THERAPEUTIC TREATMENTS AND FINDING CURES. THROUGH RIGOROUS EXPERIMENTATION, COMBINED WITH ADVANCED ANALYTIC AND SOFTWARE TOOLS, THESE EFFORTS LEAD PROGRESS TOWARDS STRENGTHENING OUR BODIES' ABILITIES TO COMBAT LIFE THREATENING INFECTIONS, INFLAMMATORY DISEASES, AND CANCER. MOUSE MODELS CURRENTLY STUDIED AT THE INSTITUTE INCLUDE INFLUENZA, PARAINFLUENZA, INFLUENZA-ASSOCIATED BACTERIAL PNEUMONIA, BACTERIAL SEPSIS, PNEUMONIC PLAGUE, TUBERCULOSIS, TOXOPLASMOSIS, ZIKA, CHRONIC HERPESVIRUS INFECTION AND COVID-19 (SARS COV-2). TRUDEAU INSTITUTE CONTINUED ITS RESEARCH IN THE AREAS OF IMMUNOLOGY AND INFECTIOUS DISEASE, SUPPORTED BY GRANTS FROM THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH, NEW YORK STATE, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE AND THROUGH SUBCONTRACTS WITH VARIOUS UNIVERSITIES AND FOUNDATIONS.
