SCHOLARSHIP AND RECRUITING FOR THE ATTINGHAM TRUST PROGRAMS. THE AMERICAN FRIENDS OF ATTINGHAM SELECTS APPROXIMATELY 20 QUALIFIED DECORATIVE ARTS PROFESSIONALS AND STUDENTS FOR THE THREE-WEEK SUMMER SCHOOL AS WELL AS A VARIABLE NUMBERS OF INDIVIDUALS FOR THE ONE-WEEK STUDY TRIP ORGANIZED BY THE ATTINGHAM TRUST IN ENGLAND. THE AMERICAN FRIENDS OF ATTINGHAM RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS FROM SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS; A PERPETUAL TRUST; AND EXTERNAL AFFINITY ORGANIZATIONS -- ALL BASED IN THE UNITED STATES. IT HAS BEEN THE PRACTICE OF AWARDING PARTIAL SUPPORT PRIMARILY TO THE SUMMER SCHOOL PARTICIPANTS. ALL SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES MUST PAY FOR TRANSPORTATION AND INCIDENTAL COSTS.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS - LECTURES AND TOURS - UNITED STATES. THE AMERICAN FRIENDS OF ATTINGHAM ARRANGES EDUCATIONAL TOURS AND LECTURES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR THE PURPOSES OF RE-CONNECTING WITH ALUMNI AS WELL AS TO INTRODUCE THE ORGANIZATION TO PROSPECTIVE INDIVIDUALS CONSIDERING SUMMER SCHOOL OR STUDY WEEK (STUDY PROGRAMME) PARTICIPATION, OR OTHER ATTINGHAM TRUST COURSES (SEE NOTE BELOW). THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE SUPPORTED BY FEES, WHICH COVER BASIC COSTS, AND ALSO RAISE NOMINAL FUNDS FOR THE ORGANIZATION. THE NET RESULT DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY OVERHEAD CHARGES OR VOLUNTEER CONTRIBUTIONS OF TIME AND TO SOME EXTENT PERSONAL EXPENSE. MOST EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE HELD IN THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN REGION.
