TO ENHANCE THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ECONOMIC AND PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE OF PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND, PRIMARILY THROUGH CREATING, SUSTAINING, AND IMPROVING EMPLOYMENT.

IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, NIB AND ITS ASSOCIATED NONPROFIT AGENCIES EMPLOYED 5,237 PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND, INCLUDING VETERANS WHO ARE BLIND, AND GENERATED 308 NEW JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND THROUGH PRODUCT MANUFACTURING AND SERVICE DELIVERY. NIB CONTINUES TO INVEST IN CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FIELDS, EXPANDING ITS CONTRACT MANAGEMENT SUPPORT (CMS) TRAINING PROGRAM TO INCLUDE TRAINING GEARED TOWARD CLOSURE OF GRANTS AND COOPERATIVE AGREEMENTS, THUS EXPANDING THE CMS CUSTOMER BASE TO UNIVERSITIES, COLLEGES, HOSPITALS, AND LARGE PRIVATE-SECTOR GOVERNMENT CONTRACTORS. IN FISCAL 2023, 336 PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND WERE PROMOTED, OBTAINED COMPETITIVE POSITIONS, OR WERE PLACED INTO SUPPORTED POSITIONS WITHIN NIB ASSOCIATED AGENCIES OR THEIR COMMUNITIES AS A RESULT OF TRAINING AND REHABILITATION SERVICES.
