NY SCORES SEEKS TO CREATE EQUITABLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO EXPERIENCE SPORT,EXPRESS THEMSELVES AND INSPIRE POSITIVE CHANGE OFF THE FIELD AND OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM. USING A SOCIAL JUSTICE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK, NY SCORES EMPHASIZE RACIAL EQUITY, FAIR PLAY, TEAMWORK AND YOUTH VOICE AS KEY DRIVERS OF BUILDING A BETTER, MORE EQUITABLE NEW YORK CITY. THEY OPERATE PROGRAMS WHICH INCLUDE SOCCER, POETRY AND SERVICE-LEARNING ACTIVITIES.

NY SCORES PARTNERED WITH 16 PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN WEST HARLEM, WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, THE BRONX AND BROOKLYN AND NYC PARKS DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE OUR YEAR-ROUND LITERACY IN ACTION PROGRAM, A NATIONALLY STANDARDIZED CURRICULUM OF SOCCER, POETRY AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT. SERVING APPROXIMATELY 900 STUDENTS, ASNY HAS CREATED OPPORTUNITIES FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS AND OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO COACH AND MENTOR YOUTH TEAMS, AGES 8 THROUGH 21, IN SOCCER AND WRITING WORKSHOPS UP TO SIX DAYS PER WEEK. COMMUNITY EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
