RELIGIOUS WORLDS OF NEW YORK (NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES - THREE WEEK INTENSIVE SUMMER INSTITUTE FOR K-12 TEACHERS, COSPONSORED BY THE UNION THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, AND SUPPORTED BY THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES. THE GOAL IS TO HELP TEACHERS TEACH ABOUT EVERYDAY LIFE AND DIVERSE FAITH COMMUNITIES, IN ADDITION TO THE CONVENTIONAL "WORLD RELIGIONS" CURRICULUM. 25 TEACHERS FROM THROUGHOUT THE US ARE SELECTED THROUGH A COMPETITIVE APPLICATION PROCESS. PARTICIPANTS LEARN FROM LEADING SCHOLARS OF RELIGION, MEET WITH DIVERSE RELIGIOUS LEADERS, VISIT LOCAL HOUSE OF WORSHIP, CONDUCT FIELD RESEARCH, AND DEVELOP THEIR OWN RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY CURRICULUM PROJECTS.
MULTIFAITH RACIAL JUSTICE ORGANIZING - INITIATIVE ENCOURAGING DIVERSE NYC RELIGIOUS LEADERS TO WORK TOGETHER FOR RACIAL JUSTICE, FUNDED BY THE GRANTMAKING ARM OF TRINITY CHURCH WALL STREET. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE PUBLIC PROGRAMS AND TRAININGS ON GUN VIOLENCE, COALITION MEETINGS, CLERGY SIGN-ON LETTERS, PRESS CONFERENCES, DEMONSTRATIONS, VIGILS AND OTHER FORMS OF POLICY ADVOCACY. MORE BROADLY, WE ARE WORKING TO CREATE A MORE JUST AND INCLUSIVE CITY FOR ALL NEW YORKERS.
INTERFAITH CIVIC LEADERSHIP ACADEMY - COHORT BASED LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR DIVERSE NYC CLERGY MEMBERS AND FAITH-BASED ACTIVISTS, SUPPORTED BY THE ROBERT STERLING CLARK FOUNDATION. 15 FELLOW ARE SELECTED THROUGH A COMPETITIVE APPLICATION PROCESS. THEY PARTICIPATE IN A SERIES OF WORKSHOPS, INCLUDING CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZING TRAINING AS WELL AS INTERFAITH DIALOGUE WITH THEIR PEERS. FOLLOWING WORKSHOPS, THEY RECEIVE SMALL GRANTS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR THEIR OWN COMMUNITY-BASED PROJECTS. THE PROGRAM HELPS THESE GRASSROOTS RELIGIOUS LEADERS ADVOCATE MORE EFFECTIVELY FOR THERE COMMUNITIES, AND ADDRESS SOCIAL ISSUES THAT SHAPE THE LIVES OF ALL NEW YORKERS.
