STORYCORPS WAS FOUNDED IN 2003 WITH THE MISSION TO PRESERVE AND SHARE HUMANITY'S STORIES TO BUILD CONNECTIONS BETWEEN PEOPLE AND CREATE A MORE JUST AND COMPASSIONATE WORLD. OVER THE PAST 19 YEARS, STORYCORPS PROVIDED MORE THAN 600,000 PEOPLE FROM ALL 50 UNITED STATES WITH VITAL OPPORTUNITIES TO RECORD INTERVIEWS ABOUT THEIR LIVES, PASS WISDOM FROM ONE GENERATION TO THE NEXT, AND LEAVE A LEGACY FOR THE FUTURE IN ITS ARCHIVE AT THE AMERICAN FOLKLIFE CENTER AT THE U.S. LIBRARY OF CONGRESS. STORYCORPS PRODUCES AND SHARES EDITED SEGMENTS OF SELECT INTERVIEWS WITH A NATIONAL AUDIENCE OF TENS-OF-MILLIONS THROUGH ITS WEEKLY BROADCASTS ON NPR'S MORNING EDITION, ANIMATIONS, AND PODCASTS SHARED ON DIGITAL AND PUBLIC MEDIA (SEE SCHEDULE O FOR FULL DESCRIPTION).STORYCORPS' WORK HAS BEEN WIDELY RECOGNIZED WITH SEVERAL GEORGE FOSTER PEABODY AWARDS, A MACARTHUR AWARD FOR CREATIVE AND EFFECTIVE INSTITUTIONS, AND THE TED PRIZE.IN 2021, STORYCORPS PARTNERED WITH HUNDREDS OF ORGANIZATIONS TO CONDUCT OVER 21,500 INTERVIEWS WITH OVER 39,000 PEOPLE IN TOWNS AND CITIES ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, 44% OF WHOM SELF-IDENTIFIED AS COMING FROM AN HISTORICALLY-UNDERREPRESENTED GROUP. WHILE ALL STORYCORPS INTERVIEWS WERE HISTORICALLY RECORDED FACE-TO-FACE, IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, STORYCORPS RAPIDLY DEVELOPED A NEW PLATFORM FOR REMOTE INTERVIEWS, CALLED STORYCORPS CONNECT, TO CONTINUE ITS MISSION-DRIVEN ACTIVITIES.
