THE AGA IS THE OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE OF THE UNITED STATES IN THE INTERNATIONAL GO FEDERATION AND THE WORLD MIND SPORTS GAMES. THE AGA IS ALSO THE NORTH AMERICAN REPRESENTATIVE IN THE INTERNATIONAL PAIR GO ASSOCIATION.

GO CONGRESS TOURNAMENTS: THE AGA PROVIDES MONETARY SUPPORT FOR MAJOR TOURNAMENTS THAT BRING TOGETHER SOME OF THE STRONGEST PLAYERS IN NORTH AMERICA TO COMPETE FOR NATIONAL TITLES. THESE TOURNAMENTS ARE ALSO OPEN TO THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP AND ATTRACT A LARGE NUMBER OF PLAYERS AT ALL LEVELS FROM BEGINNER TO PROFESSIONAL. TOURNAMENTS NOT ONLY BRING ENJOYMENT AND EDIFICATION TO MEMBERS BUT ALSO ATTRACT NEW MEMBERS WHO MIGHT OTHERWISE HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE NATIONAL ORGANIZATION. AN OFFICIAL RATING EARNED THROUGH TOURNAMENT PLAY IS ONE OF THE MAJOR BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP. THE AGA ALSO SUPPORTS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION WITH GRANTS FOR TRAVEL TO REPRESENT THE USA OR NORTH AMERICA, AND DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES TO AGA COMPETITORS.
INTERNATIONAL: THE AGA SUPPORTED INTERNATIONAL GO ACTIVITIES.
COMMUNICATIONS: THE AGA MAINTAINS A WEBSITE (WWW.USGO.ORG) FOR OUTREACH TO PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS AND TO BENEFIT THE CURRENT MEMBERSHIP WITH NEW, GOVERNANCE DOCUMENTS, AND GUIDES FOR ORGANIZING LOCAL CHAPTERS AND CONDUCTING LOCAL TOURNAMENTS. THE AGA ALSO DISTRIBUTES AN ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER TO KEEP MEMBERS INFORMED OF AGA ORGANIZATIONAL MATTERS, TOURNAMENT NEWS, INTERNATIONAL NEWS, AND LESSONS FROM PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS. AN ANNUAL YEARBOOK (IN ELECTRONIC FORMAT) SUMMARIZES AND SUPPLEMENTS THE WEEKLY NEWSLETTER. LIVE REPORTS FROM THE SCENE OF THE U.S. GO CONGRESS AND MAJOR INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS ARE PROVIDED TO MEMBERS THROUGH REGULAR BROADCASTS ON YOUTUBE, INCLUDING PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY ON GAMES OF INTEREST.
