THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE IS TO PROMOTE, CULTIVATE, SPONSOR, DEVELOP, AID AND ADVANCE THE PUBLIC INTEREST IN, AND APPRECIATION OF, THE ART OF DANCE AND CHOREOGRAPHY, THE RELATED ARTS OF MUSIC, PAINTING, DESIGN AND THEATER.

DANCE PRESENTING:THE JOYCE PRESENTS A DIVERSE ROSTER OF ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FINANCING AND MANAGING ALL SERVICES INCLUDING ARTISTIC FEES, ADVERTISING/PROMOTION AND TECHNICAL COSTS. IN FY21, THE JOYCE PRESENTED 11 COMPANIES THROUGH PRE-RECORDED OR LIVE-STREAMED VIDEOS.
ENGAGEMENT ASSISTANCE (DANCE RENTAL):NON-PROFIT DANCE COMPANIES AND OTHERS RENT THE JOYCE THEATER AT HIGHLY SUBSIDIZED WEEKLY RENTAL FEE. IN FY21, THE JOYCE RENTED THE THEATER TO SIX DANCE COMPANIES AND TWO OTHER COMPANIES.
PRODUCING, TOURING, AND ARTIST SERVICES:CHOREOGRAPHERS, DANCERS AND MUSICIANS ARE IDENTIFIED AND INVITED TO COLLABORATE ON DANCE CREATION PROJECTS. THESE PROJECTS MAY TAKE FROM THREE MONTHS TO THREE YEARS CULMINATING WITH A PREMIERE OF THE WORK AT THE JOYCE THEATER WITH FURTHER EXPECTATIONS OF TOURING UNDER THE JOYCE THEATER PRODUCTIONS PROGRAM. THREE SHORT-TERM CREATION PROJECTS WERE STARTED IN FY21 WITH PREMIERS LIVE-STREAMED AND RECORDED.
