THE NATIONAL YOUTH EMPLOYMENT COALITION, INC. (THE COALITION) IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION INCORPORATED IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK ON DECEMBER 12, 1979. THE COALITION IMPROVES THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ORGANIZATIONS THAT SEEK TO HELP YOUTH THRIVE. THE COALITION ENVISIONS A NATION IN WHICH EVERY YOUNG PERSON IS ASSURED THE FULL RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL, DEVELOPMENTAL, VOCATIONAL, ECONOMIC, AND SOCIAL OPPORTUNITIES, SUPPORTS, AND SERVICES THAT HE OR SHE MAY NEED TO BECOME A PRODUCTIVE AND SELF-SUFFICIENT WORKER, TAXPAYER, PARENT, OR CITIZEN.

CAPACITY BUILDING STRATEGIES - THE COALITION ASSISTS ITS MEMBERS, AS WELL AS THE BROADER AUDIENCE OF LOCAL AND STATE PRACTITIONERS IN THE YOUTH EMPLOYMENT FIELD, TO IMPROVE OUTCOMES FOR YOUTH IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE COALITION DISTILLS AND PRESENTS INFORMATION ON EFFECTIVE PRACTICES FOR DISCONNECTED AND SYSTEMS-INVOLVED YOUTH, TO A VARIETY OF NATIONAL AND REGIONAL AUDIENCES THROUGH WEBINARS AND CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS. IN ADDITION, THE COALITION WORKS WITH PROVIDERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO IDENTIFY, CREATE, SHARE, AND ACHIEVE BEST PRACTICES IN SERVING DISCONNECTED AND MARGINALIZED YOUNG PEOPLE.
POLICY AND ADVOCACY - THE PURPOSE OF THE POLICY AND ADVOCACY OF THE COALITION IS TO KEEP MEMBERS INFORMED ABOUT THE LATEST LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY POLICY DEVELOPMENTS IN WASHINGTON, D.C., RELATED TO WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, AND TO ORIENT ORGANIZATIONS IN PROMOTING YOUTH-FOCUSED PUBLIC POLICY.
