FAMILY SERVICES OF WESTCHESTER OFFERS A BROAD RANGE OF SOCIAL AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES TO STRENGTHEN AND SUPPORT FAMILIES, CHILDREN AND INDIVIDUALS AT EVERY STAGES OF THE LIFE CYCLE FROM INFANCY TO ADULTHOOD.

YOUTH SERVICES: FSW'S YOUTH SERVICES EMPHASIZE PREVENTION AS THEY STRATEGICALLY PROMOTE POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT BY REDUCING RISK FACTORS AND HELPING YOUTH ESTABLISH AND STRENGTHEN THE PROTECTIVE FACTORS. EXAMPLES OF FSW'S PROTECTIVE YOUTH SERVICES INCLUDE: WESTCHESTER COUNTY YOUTH COUNCILS RESPITE AND CAMP SUCCESS YOUTH RESIDENCES ADOPTION AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES, THERAPEUTIC FOSTER CARE AND YOUTH FORUM.
FAMILY MENTAL HEALTH FSW'S OMH LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH CLINICS ARE LOCATED WITHIN OUR SEVEN FAMILY CENTERS IN YONKERS, MOUNT VERNON, PELHAM, WHITE PLAINS, HASTINGS ON HUDSON, SLEEPY HOLLOW, AND PORT CHESTER, AS WELL AS AT SATELLITE CLINICS LOCATED WITHIN SCHOOLS AROUND WESTCHESTER COUNTY. IN ADDITION TO THESE LICENSED CLINICAL SERVICES, RELATED SUPPORT SERVICES ARE OFFERED THROUGH A SPECTRUM OF MORE THAN 20 PROGRAMS THAT HELP FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS OVERCOME CHALLENGES AND MAKE HEALTHIER LIFE DECISIONS. FOR EXAMPLE: FAMILY STRENGTHENING EARLY STEP FORWARD FAMILY PRESERVATION PARTNERSHIP FOR CARE PROGRAMS FOR INDIVIDUALS INFECTED/AFFECTED BY HIV/AIDS MULTI CULTURAL INITIATIVE AND GERIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES.
FSW'S EDUCATION PROGRAMS ARE COMPRISED OF EARLY HEAD START, HEAD START, HEAD START, PRIME TIME AND UNIVERSAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN. EARLY HEAD START IS A FEDERAL PROGRAM WHICH SERVES PREGNANT WOMEN, INFANTS AND TODDLERS USING EITHER A HOME-BASED OR A CENTER-BASED DELIVERY MODEL. EARLY HEAD START IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT PARENTS IN THEIR ROLES AS THE PRIMARY INFLUENCES ON THE EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR CHILDREN.HEAD START IS A FEDERALLY FUNDED PROGRAM FOR PRESCHOOLERS FROM LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, INTENDED TO FOSTER YOUNG CHILDREN'S DEVELOPMENT AND WELL-BEING. HEAD START IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT PARENTS IN THEIR ROLES AS THE PRIMARY INFLUENCES ON THE EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR CHILDREN. WITHIN HEAD START, FOUR-YEAR-OLDS CAN BE ENROLLED IN THE UNIVERSAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM, A COLLABORATION BETWEEN FSW AND THE WHITE PLAINS CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT.PRIME TIME IS A SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM THAT OFFERS DIAGNOSTIC, REMEDIAL, AND PREVENTIVE SERVICES TO PRESCHOOL CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL AND/OR LEARNING DISABILITIES. A VARIETY OF CLASSROOM MODELS PROVIDE THE LEAST RESTRICTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR EACH CHILD BASED ON HIS OR HER INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLAN. SERVICES INCLUDE SPEECH, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY, PHYSICAL THERAPY, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EDUCATIONAL SERVICES AND EVALUATIONS BY LICENSED PROFESSIONALS. BILINGUAL EVALUATIONS ARE ALSO OFFERED.UNIVERSAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN (UPK) IS A NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION PROGRAM FUNDED TO SERVE FOUR-YEAR-OLD PRESCHOOLERS RESIDING IN THE CITY OF WHITE PLAINS WHO ARE ENTITLED TO ATTEND THE WHITE PLAINS CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT WHEN THEY ARE OF KINDERGARTEN AGE. UNIVERSAL PRE-KINDERGARTEN IS A COMPREHENSIVE EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES THAT FOSTERS THE DEVELOPMENT AND WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN.
