COLLEGE AND MASTERS/DOCTORAL PROGRAMS:SEE SCHEDULE O FOR PROGRAM DESCRIPTION.COLLEGE AND MASTERS/DOCTORAL PROGRAMS:IN JUNE 2017, THE UNIVERSITY'S BOARD OF TRUSTEES VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO MAKE THE UNDERGRADUATE COLLEGE COEDUCATIONAL, ACCEPTING MEN AS STUDENTS BEGINNING WITH THE 2019-2020 ACADEMIC YEAR. STUDENTS SELECT FROM AN ARRAY OF DYNAMIC MAJORS AND MINORS, DUAL MAJORS, AND CONCENTRATIONS, AND THEN PROCEED TO REALIZING THEIR AMBITIONS. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING IS INCORPORATED ACROSS THE CURRICULUM AND FACULTY PREPARE STUDENTS FOR MEANINGFUL PROFESSIONAL CAREERS. SEAMLESS DEGREE PROGRAMS SAVE TIME AND MONEY, AND BUILD THE FOUNDATION FOR A GREAT CAREER AS MANY DEGREE PROGRAMS LEAD TO PROFESSIONAL LICENSES. THE SCHOOL OF PHARMACY IS LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, AND OFFERS A UNIQUE THREE-CALENDAR-YEAR DOCTORAL DEGREE (PHARM.D.) PROGRAM IN PHARMACY.IN 2016, USJ ANNOUNCED THAT ITS NEW PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA) PROGRAM WAS GRANTED ACCREDITATION-PROVISIONAL STATUS BY THE ACCREDITATION REVIEW COMMISSION ON EDUCATION FOR THE PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (ARC-PA). THIS ACCREDITATION - THE FIRST IN A MULTI-STEP ACCREDITATION PROCESS - ALLOWED USJ TO ENROLL THE INAUGURAL CLASS OF ITS PA PROGRAM IN JANUARY 2017. USJ'S PA PROGRAM IS A 28-MONTH, COEDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOCUSING ON COLLABORATIVE APPROACHES TO PATIENT-CENTERED CARE THAT ENHANCES TREATMENT PLANS AND CAN IMPROVE OUTCOMES IN A CHANGING AND EVOLVING HEALTHCARE ENVIRONMENT.
MODEL SCHOOLS:SEE SCHEDULE O FOR PROGRAM DESCRIPTION.MODEL SCHOOLS:THE UNIVERSITY IS HOME TO TWO MODEL SCHOOLS: THE GENGRAS CENTER AND THE SCHOOL FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. THE GENGRAS CENTER IS A STATE-APPROVED PRIVATE SPECIAL EDUCATION FACILITY THAT PROVIDES HIGHLY STRUCTURED, INTENSIVE AND SELF-CONTAINED SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. IN 2020 IT SERVED 136 STUDENTS FROM SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES. AT THE CENTER, UNIVERSITY OF SAINT JOSEPH STUDENTS FULFILL REQUIRED CLASSES IN THE FIELDS OF SPECIAL EDUCATION, NURSING, SOCIAL WORK, COUNSELING, AND NUTRITION. IN MAY 2015 THE GENGRAS CENTER OPENED A NEW FACILITY, THE CENTER FOR APPLIED RESEARCH AND EDUCATION (CARE). WITH THIS EXPANDED CAPACITY, THE GENGRAS CENTER CAN NOW SERVE THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. THE 22,000 SQUARE FOOT FACILITY INCLUDES A GYM, ART ROOM, ADDITIONAL THERAPY SPACE, AND NEW CLASSROOMS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS WITH AUTISM.THE SCHOOL FOR YOUNG CHILDREN IS A NATIONALLY-ACCREDITED PRESCHOOL WHICH HAS BEEN SERVING CHILDREN SINCE 1936; IN 2020 IT ENROLLED 76 STUDENTS.
