MENTOR RHODE ISLAND COODINATED SCHOOL-BASED MENTORING PROGRAMS IN WARWICK, WOONSOCKET, NEWPORT, MIDDLETOWN, PORTSMOUTH, BRISTOL-WARREN, AND PROVIDENCE RI PUBLIC SCHOOLS THROUGH QUALITY ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING, WHICH INCLUDES MENTOR RECRUITMENT, SCREENING, TRAINING, AND MATCHING WITH YOUTH ALONG WITH ONGOING RELATIONSHIP SUPPORT. 201 STUDENTS WERE CONNECTED WITH A MENTOR THROUGH THESE SCHOOL-BASED PROGRAMS.
PROVIDED TRAINING AND SUPPORT THROUGH A NETWORK OF 56 MENTORING PROGRAMS SERVING 5,217 YOUTH IN 37 OF RHODE ISLAND'S CITIES AND TOWNS TO HELP PROGRAM COORDINATORS BEGIN MENTORING PROGRAMS AND/OR ENHANCE EXISTING PROGRAMS THROUGH THE NATIONALLY ACCEPTED "ELEMENTS OF EFFECTIVE PRACTICE IN MENTORING." RIMP CONDUCTED 45 TOTAL TRAININGS & WORKSHOPS FOR 675 PEOPLE REPRESENTING 215 ORGANIZATIONS. TRAININGS INCLUDED: PROGRAM COORDINATOR TRAINING, MENTOR TRAINING, EVERYDAY MENTOR TRAINING, CONNECT/FOCUS/GROW, ELEMENTS OF EFFECTIVE PRACTICE TRAINING, AND SEVERAL WORKSHOPS FOCUSED ON TOPICS IMPORTANT TO YOUTH, MENTORS, AND MENTORING PROGRAMS. PROVIDED 1113 HOURS OF FREE TO THEM TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE VALUED AT 83,475 TO 26 MENTORING PROGRAMS AS RHODE ISLAND'S ONLY APPROVED TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDER FOR THE NATIONAL MENTORING RESOURCE CENTER.
