CONTINUING EDUCATION IS NECESSARY TO FULFILL THE STATE'S LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS AND TO MAINTAIN PROFESSIONAL COMPETANCY IN THE PROFESSION OF OPTOMETRY. THE RIOA ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE TO ITS MEMBERS REGARDING LAWS, RULES, AND REGULATIONS THAT MAY AFFECT ITS MEMBERS AND CONSULTS WITH ITS MEMBERS WHEN INPUT IS NEEDED TO FORM POSITIONS AND POLICY.
