CONVENTIONS AND SEMINARS WERE DEVELOPED TO PROVIDE CONTINUING EDUCATION TO ALL MEMBERS. CONTINUING EDUCATION IS NECESSARY TO FULFILL THE STATE'S LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS AND TO MAINTAIN PROFESSIONAL COMPETANCY IN THE PROFESSION OF OPTOMETRY. THE RIOA ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE TO ITS MEMBERS REGARDING LAWS, RULES, AND REGULATIONS THAT MAY AFFECT ITS MEMBERS AND CONSULTS WITH ITS MEMBERS WHEN INPUT IS NEEDED TO FORM POSITIONS AND POLICY. AS WITH ANY HEALTHCARE FIELD, STATE AND FEDERAL ISSUES CAN IMPACT ITS MEMBERS AND ITS MEMBERS NEED TO BE KEPT ABREAST OF SUCH THINGS.
