THE RHODE ISLAND PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2020-2021:-WE CONTINUE TO BE ONE OF THE LARGEST COMBINED PROFESSIONAL ORCHESTRA AND COMMUNITY MUSIC SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY, AND THE SECOND LARGEST ARTS ORGANIZATION IN RHODE ISLAND.-WE SERVED APPROXIMATELY 75,000 FOLKS THROUGH OUR TEACHING, EDUCATION CONCERTS, CLASSICAL CONCERTS AND LIVESTREAMING OVER THIS PAST YEAR
THE RI PHILHARMONIC MUSIC SCHOOL IS THE ONLY COMMUNITY MUSIC SCHOOL IN RHODE ISLAND AND ENCOURAGES LIFELONG ENGAGEMENT WITH MUSIC THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE MUSIC EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMS TAUGHT BY ORCHESTRA MEMBERS AND OTHER OUTSTANDING FACULTY. WE PRIORITIZE ARTISTRY AND EDUCATION EQUALLY. WE PARTNERED WITH CARNEGIE HALL FOR THE EIGHTH YEAR TO PROVIDE LINK UP EDUCATION CURRICULUM AND CONCERTS WHICH SERVED OVER 12,000 CHILDREN IN 99 SCHOOLS IN 35 SCHOOL DISTRICTS VIA THE INTERNET. WE PROVIDED OVER $345,000 IN CASH AND IN-KIND FINANCIAL AID TO STUDENTS WHICH COVERS 30% OF OUR POPULATION. WE HAVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH MANY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN THE STATE INCLUDING PROVIDENCE SINGERS, RI MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION, AMERICAN BAND, NARRAGANSETT BAY SYMPHONY COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA, AS WELL AS CLASSES WITH THE AUTISM PROJECT, LIFELONG LEARNING COLLABORATIVE, GIRLS ROCK, PROVIDENCE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL AND RI CHILRENS CHORUS. OTHER ORGANIZATIONS WE HAVE COLLABORATED WITH ARE BRADLEY HOSPITAL, LASALLE ACADEMY, BLACKSTONE ACADEMY, RI SCHOOL OF DESIGN, TRINITY REPARATORY COMPANY, RI STATE COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS, BROWN UNIVERSITY, RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE AND OTHERS.
