TO PROVIDE FOR PUBLIC CELEBRATION, CONCERT, AND FIREWORKS ON JULY 4TH. DUE TO THE UNEXPECTED LIFTING OF PUBLIC HEALTH RESTRICTIONS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN LATE MAY 2021 THAT MADE A JULY 4 CONCERT POSSIBLE, BOSTON 4 CELEBRATIONS, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE CITY AND STATE, DECIDED THAT THE BEST WAY TO PROVIDE A PUBLIC CONCERT WAS TO HOST THE FREE PUBLIC EVENT AT TANGLEWOOD IN LENOX, MA AND HAVE THE FIREWORKS AT BOSTON COMMON. ON JULY 4, 2021, KEITH LOCKHART LED THE BOSTON POPS IN THE ORGANIZATION'S FIRST LIVE CONCERT IN 478 DAYS. THE FREE CONCERT AT TANGLEWOOD WAS ENJOYED BY 7,690 PEOPLE WHO INCLUDED VETERANS, HEALTH CARE WORKERS, AND FIRST RESPONDERS. SPECIAL APPEARANCES BY OSCAR-AWARD WINNER JON BATISTE, LEGENDARY SINGER MAVIS STAPLES, AND THE U.S. AIR FORCE'S SINGING SERGEANTS PAID TRIBUTE TO THE AMERICAN SPIRIT AND COMING THROUGH THE WORST OF THE PANDEMIC. THE CONCERT WAS LIVE-STREAMED TO BOSTON COMMON AND BROADCAST ON BLOOMBERG TV AND RADIO AND ON WHDH-TV IN BOSTON. THE LIVE-STREAMING ALLOWED THE AUDIENCE AT TANGLEWOOD TO VIEW THE FIREWORKS ON LARGE SCREENS.
