TO PROVIDE AFFORDABLE SAILING INSTRUCTION AND ACCESS TO WATER SPORTS FOR THE NANTUCKET COMMUNITY.

NANTUCKET COMMUNITY SAILING (NCS) OFFERS A FULL RANGE OF YOUTH AND ADULT GROUP SAILING LESSONS, PRIVATE SAILING LESSONS, AND PROVIDES HOURLY AND DAILY RENTALS OF SAILBOATS AND WATER SPORTS EQUIPMENT SUCH AS KAYAKS AND PADDLEBOARDS TO MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC, FROM TWO LOCATIONS ON NANTUCKET, JETTIES BEACH AND POLPIS HARBOR. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES $150,000 IN YOUTH SAILING SCHOLARSHIPS AND FREE COMMUNITY OUTREACH TO UNDERSERVED CHILDREN AND ADULTS WHO WOULD OTHERWISE NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT ON THE WATER. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION RUNS REGATTAS DURING THE SUMMER TO INCLUDE MORE PEOPLE IN THE SPORT OF SAILING AND AS FUNDRAISING EVENTS TO SUPPORT THE SAILING PROGRAMS. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES THE PROGRAMS AND EVENTS WITH A FOCUS ON SUSTAINABILITY, AND COLLABORATES WITH OTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO MAINTAIN NANTUCKET'S WATER QUALITY.IN FISCAL YEAR 2021 NCS HAD 825 ENROLLMENTS IN OUR YOUTH SAILING PROGRAMS OVER EIGHT WEEKS, REPRESENTING 389 UNIQUE STUDENTS. 40% OF OUR STUDENTS WERE YEAR-ROUND NANTUCKET CHILDREN, AND WE PROVIDED $62,175 IN SAILING SCHOLARSHIPS TO 110 CHILDREN. OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS SUPPORTED 256 PEOPLE OVER 68 STUDENT DAYS OF ACTIVITY. NCS ALSO OFFERED PRIVATE LESSONS AND SAILBOAT RENTALS TO OVER 250 PEOPLE WHO RESERVED IN ADVANCE, AND ADDITIONAL WALK-UP MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
