TO PROVIDE AN INTERDISCIPLINARY, COOPERATIVE TEAM APPROACH TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN SUBJECTED TO VIOLENCE AS VICTIMS OR AS WITNESSES AND TO THEIR NON-OFFENDING FAMILY MEMBERS. TO PROVIDE A SAFE, CARING, HOME-LIKE ATMOSPHERE THAT COORDINATES THE COMBINED KNOWLEDGE OF LAW INFORCEMENT, SOCIAL SERVICE, MEDICAL, PROSECUTORIAL, AND MENTAL HEALTH AGENCIES TO ENSURE AN EFFECTIVE RESPONSE TO CHILDHOOD TRAUMA. CHILDREN WHO ARE VICTIMS OF ABUSE MUST DEPEND ON THE ADULTS IN THEIR LIVES TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE WARNING SIGNS, BELIEVE THEM WHEN THEY TELL US SOMETHING IS WRONG, AND RESPOND RESPONSIBLY.

VOCA: WORKS COLLABORATIVELY WITH EXISTING AGENCIES AND SCHOOOL ADMINISTRATIONS TO PLAN THE MOST EFFECTIVE RESPONSE IN THE EVENT OF A CRITICAL INCIDENT, COORDINATES POST TRAUMATIC STRESS MANAGEMENT TRAINING FOR SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY BASED PROFESSIONALS THROUGHOUT BERKSHIRE COUNTY, AND RESPONDS AND ASSITS IN THE RECOVERY PROCESS FOLLOWING A CRITCAL INCIDENT.
CHILD WITNESS PROGRAM: PROVIDES ADVOCACY AND COUNSELING SERVICES TO BATTERED WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN WHO HAVE WITNESSED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND INCREASES AWARENESS OF THE EFFECTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ON CHILDREN. THE PROGRAM IS A JOINT COLLABORATIVE BETWEEN BERKSHIRE COUNTY KIDS' PLACE, THE ELIZABETH FREEMAN CENTER, AND MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES OF THE BERKSHIRES.
SEXUAL ASSULT INTERVENTION COORDINATES CHILD SEXUAL AND PHYSICAL ABUSE INVESTIGATIONS WITH STATE AND LOCAL POLICE, THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, AND THE DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE, ENSURES MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH CARE FOR VICTIMS, TRACKS EACH AND EVERY CHILD THROUGH PROSECUTION AND BEYOND, COMPILES STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF CHILD ABUSE CASES. SAFE BERKSHIRES PROGRAM PROVIDES ADVOCACY AND COUNSELING SERVICES TO ABUSED WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN AND INCREASES AWARENESS OF THE EFFECTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ON CHILDREN.
