FAMILY SERVICES - THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS LOW-INCOME FAMILIES TO BECOME AND REMAIN AS HOMEOWNERS IN THE GREATER BOSTON AREA.
EACH HABITAT HOMEOWNER HELPS BUILD THEIR HOME BY COMPLETING 250-300 HOURS OF "SWEAT EQUITY". WHEN THE HOME IS COMPLETE, HABITAT SELLS IT TO THE FAMILY FOR AN AFFORDABLE PRICE THAT ENSURES THE FAMILY'S MONTHLY HOUSING PAYMENT WILL NOT EXCEED MORE THAN 30% OF THEIR GROSS MONTHLY INCOME AND ALSO PROVIDES THE FAMILY WITH A NO-INTEREST MORTGAGE LOAN. THE ORGANIZATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR RAISING FUNDS FOR ALL OF THEIR PROJECTS, ITS ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET AND FOR "TITHING" 10% OF ITS UNRESTRICTED REVENUES TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL IN ORDER TO FUND THEIR OVERSEAS PROJECTS.
