FARMERS MARKET: THE FARMERS MARKET IS OUR MOST IMPORTANT COMMUNITY EVENT AND WAS EXPANDED IN 2015 TO INCLUDE A WINTER MARKET. WE ALSO HAVE LIVE MUSIC, FREE CHILDREN'S ENTERTAINMENT AND WELLNESS ACTIVITIES AT EACH SUMMER MARKET. WE HAVE BEEN VOTED BEST FARMERS MARKET IN BOSTON EVERY YEAR SINCE 2014. LAST YEAR, WE PARTICIPATED IN THE MEALS AT MARKET PROGRAM, WHICH OFFERS FREE LUNCH TO YOUNG PEOPLE UNDER 18.
ECONOMIC & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: PROMOTIONAL EVENTS DESIGNED TO BUILD A TIGHT COMMUNITY BY ATTRACTING PEOPLE TO THE VILLAGE FOR SOCIAL INTERACTION & ENTERTAINMENT AND TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO "SHOP LOCAL" THEREBY STRENGTHENING OUR RETAIL BUSINESSES. EXAMPLES OF THESE EVENTS ARE THE HOLIDAY PROGRAMMING, EASTER EGG HUNT, NEW NEIGHBOR EVENTS, TREE LIGHTING SAVOR THE SQUARE, BORDER CROSSING MUSIC SERIES, AND ANNUAL COMMUNITY MEETING. WE ALSO OFFER SUPPORT MEETINGS FOR NEW & ESTABLISHED BUSINESSES. AND WE DEVELOP MARKETING & PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS, ISSUE PRESS RELEASES AND USE SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER TECHNOLOGY TO PROMOTE ROSLINDALE EVENTS AND ATTRACTIONS.
STREETSCAPE PROJECTS: INCLUDES MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP OF ADAMS PARK, THE "HEART" OF THE VILLAGE, INSTALLATION OF HOLIDAY LIGHTING; DESIGN & PRODUCTION OF BANNERS, SIGNS AND OTHER ACCOUTREMENTS THAT ENHANCE THE APPEAL OF THE VILLAGE. IN 2018, OUR MAIN FOCUS WAS FUNDRAISING FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE POPLAR STREETSCAPE WITH NEW TRASH BINS, BENCHES, AN UPDATED KIOSK, PLANTERS, AND MORE.
