CONTESTS (MODELING CONTEST IN MATH): THE ORGANIZATION RUNS SEVERAL INTERNATIONAL CONTESTS FOR STUDENTS, EACH PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEAMS OF STUDENTS TO COLLABORATE ON AN OPEN ENDED MATHEMATICAL MODELING PROBLEM. THESE COMPETITIONS ATTRACT 90,000 TEAM ENTRIES ANNUALLY FROM AROUND THE WORLD. THE MATHEMATICAL CONTEST IN MODELING AND THE INTERDISCIPLINARY CONTEST IN MODELING ARE FOR TEAMS OF UP TO THREE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS, WHEREAS THE MIDDLE MATHEMATICAL CONTEST IN MODELING AND HIGH SCHOOL. MATHEMATICAL CONTEST IN MODELING ARE FOR TEAMS OF UP TO FOUR MIDDLE- OR HIGH-SCHOOL AGED STUDENTS. THE INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICAL MODELING CHALLENGE ALLOWS TWO TEAMS FROM EACH PARTICIPATING COUNTRY/REGION TO COMPETE. TEAMS WORK TO SOLVE A REAL-WORLD APPLICATION PROBLEM AND SUBMIT A REPORT THAT IS EVALUATED BY PANELS OF EXPERT JUDGES. STUDENTS DEVELOP INTERPERSONAL SKILLS THROUGH TEAMWORK, DEVELOP TECHNICAL WRITING AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS, AND DEVELOP THEIR PROBLEM SOLVING ACUMEN.
OUTREACH AND OTHER SMALL PROJECTS
